A BACHELOR AT HEART
CHAPTER I
This guy, Mike, who’s considered a very sexy man being, has such a good build, works as an actor. He’s, usually, busy on the job, that he jus happen to bump into women while making a movie or on the job to appear in some series or a movie or a pilot, that’s made to see if it’ll appeal to the general public. And it if does, it, then, is made into a series for national television. When he gets picked to play a character in a pilot, he jus has to hope, that it’ll be able to make it to a series, so, that he’ll become a regular cast member on that series.
It jus so happened, that Mike’s chosen for a character for a pilot. And as he entered the set, this tall gal with long, blond hair and a slender build, guided him to the back of the set.
As they arrived back there, he, curiously, said to her, “Are one lucky woman to have landed a job as a hair stylist for a pilot, could cause you to become very popular, even though, you didn’t get picked for a part for this pilot if it ever makes it into a series.”
So, she said to him, quite anxious to get to know him, “Know something, you seemed to be the type of guy, who I consider to be a womanizer. Seem to have all that sex appeal; it takes to make it as an actor on a series or even a movie.”
Then, the cat happened to have his tongue because he didn’t know how to answer her.
Since, he has been picked to play a part of a doctor who’s supposed to have an unusual personality like a teenager, first, his hair has to be trimmed because there’s no way, hair could stay down to his shoulders. And he has very curly hair which gives him, the appearance of a rock star instead of a doctor character. This is because if his hair was left like it is, he, most likely, would not make it into the pilot as a doctor character.
As the hair stylist led him towards the back of the set, he whispered to himself under his breath, “Boy, this young lady, really, seems to have a lot of pizzazz. And she doesn’t even have a ring on any of her fingers either. So, it’s obvious, that she’s not married or engaged, and, most likely, doesn’t have a boyfriend to her name. Think, I’ll work on her; somehow, have got to find out if she’s, actually, got a boyfriend in her life or is divorced from some guy, she, really, didn’t trust, or, somehow, led into playing around with other woman when he used to be married to her.”
So, he’s led to an oak wood chair which is, available, and as she is doing so, she smacked her lips together as she placed this piece of clear plastic around his neck jus after he sat down. So, he wouldn’t get hair all over the blue doctor scrubs, he’s wearing.
As she started to trim his hair, she said to him, “Really, seem to have a lot of manly traits like a good build for a guy, your age. And would say, that you’re, probably, in your thirties. And, certainly, is some good-looking guy. So, in removing some of these curls in your hair, certainly, will do a lot for your appearance. So, no one can tell you, that you look like a sissy. Am sure, that you don’t want to appear on the set as a doctor who happens to have the wild look of someone, more suited to be in the rock world, do you?”
“To tell you, the truth. If it’s the last impression, I want to create. Certainly, would rather want to look my best on the set, especially, because it won’t help the ratings of this pilot if my hair, stays long and curly. Also, don’t want the audience to think, that I am anything short of a doctor or gay for that matter. Want to look professional being that the part for which I’ll be competing, will be a character of a young doctor, who’s supposed to have a lot of flair, and be taken to women in their twenties.”
“And may I ask you, what part is this woman going to playing herself?”
“From what I’ve been told, she’s, probably, going to play the part of a resident nurse who’s planning on going to medical school, sometime, in her career, some day, to become a head nurse. Also, her character’s going to be working, closely, with me. There are going to be plenty of guys, who are going to take parts as doctors, and medical students, including emergency physicians and surgeons.”
She said to him, “Jus take a good look at you in the mirror. Notice, very carefully, how I’ve cut your hair. It’s a lot shorter than you, originally, had it? However you, still, have some curl to your hair.”
“Yes dear, now what’s your name by the way?”
“My name’s Alicia. Happen to be one of the top hair stylists on this set, for a pilot, and it may even become popular to the general audience. Also, it has a good chance of attracting an audience of varying age groups.”
“I’ve heard that there’s supposed to be some romance, included in the series if the pilot ever ends up with good ratings.”
“Okay Mike, jus walk over to the makeup person, Bob, jus over to your left. Will be willing to do all your makeup for you. See you, next time.”
“Wait a minute before you go to the next person. Do you happen to be free?”
“Why are you, asking me, that question?”
“It jus so happens, that I have been a bachelor for some time. And am ready for a woman in my life again. Once, married to a woman, but divorced her jus because she left me for another guy. So, am wondering if you jus happen to be divorced, or have a boyfriend or jus a plain guy friend?”
“No, don’t have any guy in my life at the present, but jus got divorced from a brother of yours. So, am not up to having another guy in my life. My life’s full of turmoil, and is fighting for custody of an only child, a girl of four years.”
“Guess, I’d better look, elsewhere, for another woman. See you around, and wish you, the best in your divorce. Also, hope you; end up with the custody of your child.”
“Thank you, that’s nice of you, especially, when I’m fighting against a brother of yours right now.”
The makeup person didn’t, really, talk much to Mike during the makeup session. He, too, had a big problem on his mind of jus having lost one of his children in a freak accident over at a grade school, recently.
When his first work day on the set for the pilot happened to be ready to start, and Mike’s sure of his lines, some woman with long, black hair back in a braid, some woman with the name of Carol, he found to be quite a nice woman with which to work. After all, she’s going to be playing the part of a resident nurse. So, he has a big chance, to try and convince her on going out on a date with him. And he asked her jus as she’s ready to go on the set.
Mike approached her, acting, very casual, and said to her, taking her hand, “Are you married, or do you have a guy in your life?”
She replied to him, “Are a very becoming person. So, am willing to tell you how I stand as far as men are concerned. Have never been married, nor do I have a boyfriend. In being an actress is not like a joy ride for me as you might think. Even though, this, only, a pilot of the series, still, seem to have been lucky, most of the time, in having been in one of a coming series to have been chosen for a part which has panned out for me.”
“So what you’re trying to tell me is that you have a feeling that this pilot, probably, will end up attracting the general audience. That it’ll, most likely, turn into a weekly series.”
“I’ve got the notion, that it has the chance to make it to the top, even as far as the ratings so. But to me, this is, only, an assumption. Jus have to find out, if I’m right. So, after the 14 hour work day, do you think, you would like to hang out at Doc Magoo’s across the street? They have good food and drinks. Jus happened to be over there, this morning, for a smoothie.”
Seem like a real nice guy to me. Also, seem to have plenty of good looks along with manly ways about you. So, will take you up on a date, tonight. Seem like the easy-going type.”
“So, you think, I’m a smooth talker, don’t you, my dear?”
“Oh yes, you, definitely, seem like the right type of guy for me.”
Mike’s very surprised to find out during the course of the day which their parts were a perfect match as far as the pilot went. In fact, she played a part where she happened to overdose on drugs, jus because she got the wrong idea, that he couldn’t express his love for her, and wouldn’t keep his promise to marry her.
So, being in Carol playing the part of a resident nurse is, really, what brought the drama in the pilot. Also, it brought him and Carol together as close friends. Being they worked, closely, together when the pilot turned into a series, and the rest of the cast, they all became like a close knit family.
CHAPTER II
In approaching Carol, one day, during the filming of the actual series which is staying in the top ratings, Mike said to her, “Can’t believe, that we’ve, actually, developed a special closeness like I’ve never had before with any other woman in my life, especially, the woman, to whom I used to be married.”
BACKFLASH:
From the very first day, Mike and Carol jus met before the pilot started, two have been like peas and carrots. This, really, turned out to be different for Mike, whom has been a bachelor, since, his last marriage because he though, never again, would want another woman in his life. But this seemed to change when he happened to meet Carol, and then, ended up getting real close to her. So, although, Mike, formerly, is a bachelor, and though he was going to stay that way, he had the surprise of his life when he fell for Carol, the first time, he bumped into her.
During the filming of the series, “Chicago County General”, one night, Mike admitted her, one night after the work shift, “My dear Carol, am glad, I happened to have met, one shy but real nice guy, with whom have been working real close while being on a 14 hour shift. Am sure, you know who Brian Johnson is. Has taken to me jus like a brother, even though, is about ten years younger than me, and have developed a very close friendship with him.”
Mike and Brian, always, seemed to like to chat together during every single break during every work day, that they’re on the set together. Also, the two have become like blood brothers to each other.
Carol has built a good friendship with Mike, and has managed to get into a good relationship with him. In fact, she isn’t the jealous type, so, she never seemed to become uneasy whenever Mike and Brian wanted to spend time together jus talking about the good, old times, they’ve had with other women in their lives. So, she, simply, solved the dilemma of Brian, wanting to be with Mike even outside the set on a lot of the weekends through keeping up frequent phone calls with him. Also, the couple got together in other ways besides the set as Mike has suggested to her.
One day during one of the breaks on the set, Mike said to Carol, “Realize that it tends to bother you, sometimes, when you don’t get enough time to spend with me, especially, on the weekends when Brian wants to get together with me, every so often, to play basketball or pool with me. So, do you have anything on your mind which you would like to do with me to make up for times when Brian wants to challenge me to pool or basketball?”
“Think that it would be nice for us to go to Magoo’s, more often, during the evening. That way, we could spend a couple of hours, together, for a drink or two. And think that the best time to do so would be on a Friday when you and Brian don’t tend to get together for your usual pool and basketball. But don’t want to get in your way of you and Brian playing your games together on Saturday and Sunday; however would appreciate it if you spent a weekend whenever you could with me like at your mansion.”
“Okay, will let Brian know, that, since, we have a relationship together, that you and I would like to spend some weekends together over at my mansion. Also, sometimes, we can even go over to Magoo’s for lunch and dinner, too. And if I’m not too tired by then, the night on Friday is a good time to get away. Also, am willing to pay for the drinks; and we, also, can go dancing there at night on the weekend when I feel up to it.”
Sometimes, when Mike and Carol went over to Magoo’s for dinner, he would even offer to pay for the meal along with a drink or two. And every time, the two would get into dancing for a couple of hours, he, sometimes, would surprise her with his fast disco dancing. And one time when the two walked over to Magoo’s’ jus for a couple of drinks and some dancing right after a long day on the set, Mike, actually, gave her, a big surprise.
She couldn’t figure out how he jus managed to get a cocktail down so fast. In fact, she hasn’t even had a chance however to take a few sips of her cocktail. And, already, he feels so fired up inside jus because he drank it down on an empty stomach.
Jus before the two got into their first dance of the evening after both ordered a cocktail, he said to her in a sly voice, “Jus watch me, tonight, my dear Carol. Are in for a surprise of your life. And aren’t going to be able to keep up with me, this time.”
And she replied to him, “Oh yeah? What is it that you have up your sleeve, tonight?”
However he jus didn’t try to encourage her to get up on the dance floor, that evening. He, almost, dragged her out on the floor right when there happened to be no one there. And once the fast music started playing being there’s a disc jockey at Magoo’s, that night, she, literally, isn’t doing anything. She jus has a look of awe on her face as he’s, really, moving those feet of his.
And jus when she, least, expected it, he, actually, stared into her eyes. So, she said to him, “What in the world do you have brewing inside your mind, tonight? Are moving so fast on the dance floor, that I’m not able to keep up with you,” shouting out to him over the loud music.
Then, suddenly, not, only, is he, moving his feet very fast, however he, actually, is allowing himself to bounce down to the floor, and right up back on his feet again. He’s acting like a chicken in heat, and she knew she couldn’t dance that fast even if she tried. So, although, he’s in his thirties, he’s acting like a spring chicken, and getting too carried away to even think of himself as even being considered being able to act younger than he, actually, is.
When the two, finally, got a chance to sit down after about a half hour of dancing, she found that in having tried to keep up with his dancing, has started to make her, feel, as though, her legs are about to give up on her. And then, she said to him somewhat out of breath, “Don’t know how you can keep moving, and keep dancing for so long without taking a break. Know that both you and I, are feeling somewhat tired from being on the set for 14 hours.”
So, he said to her, “My darling Carol, it’s, mostly, in the mind. It’s, literally the mind which guides the body in doing what it wants to do.”
She replied, “Think that we both should, at least, take a five minute break here from dancing. And we should start getting into some slow dancing. If my body’s allowed to get too tired, all this fast dancing could make it a little hard for me to asleep, tonight. And don’t think, that jus because you’re having a few drinks, tonight, that I should too. Am afraid, that I could turn myself into an alcoholic, and strongly, don’t want that to happen to me.”
“It didn’t turn out to be as good as an idea, that I though not as good as an idea that I thought, it would be in coming here for drinks, tonight.”
“Well, my opinion is, that we should jus, then, turn to drinking non-alcoholic drinks like sparkling drinks or even non-alcoholic beer. That way neither of us will have to worry about ruining our evening together.”
“Also, my dear Carol, the best thing for us to do, tonight, then, is to not stay real late, and, also, to take a cab back home. If this is alright with you, you could stay over at my apartment, tonight. That’s if you don’t mind, sleeping on a couch. Then, in the morning, I’ll take a cab back over here, and pick up my blue Corvette.”
“That sounds okay with me because I don’t think that either you or I should be on the road, driving even after having a few cocktails. In Chicago, police, usually, are on the go at night. And if either one of us drives after drinking, it’s, very possible, that either one of us could be a candidate to be stopped by the police around this area even if while in the car, wearing our seat belts.”
“Okay, will go over to the pay phone. And you jus wait here. Will be right back after calling a cab for both of us. Know a company, which can have a cab over to Magoo’s in no time at all.”
“Have to refresh myself; so, will meet you by the door of the place. Certainly, don’t want to fall asleep inside the cab on you.”
When the series started losing ratings, Carol realized that her and Mike could lose contact if the series ended up getting wipe off of television with another hospital series being in strong competition with that one. However, instead, the other series ended up going off the fair, so, Carol’s able to keep up her relationship with Mike. That’s the way things appeared to be to them.
However Mike, still, is associating a lot with Brian during his off days. And the two, usually, would get into motorcycle riding back and forth between their mansions being that this is, mostly, what Brian enjoys doing. This is true, now, that the days have been getting very mild with temperatures in the sixties and seventies with the evenings averaging, mostly, in the fifties.
CHAPTER II
One weekend when the guys were planning to do some motorcycle riding, jus before Mike planned to leave for Brian’s house, he said to him on his cell phone, “Hey, my buddy, what kind of mood, are you in, today?”
“Feel like I’m in a pretty good mood, today. By the way, did you and Carol have a good time at Magoo’s?”
“We were there at the place until it reached very late at night. And by that time, we both had too many drinks. On top of that, neither she nor I felt like having to drive back home at that time of night. So, jus called a cab, that night, and then, she spent the night at my apartment, and she slept pretty well on the couch, that night.”
“What did you have in mind for today?”
“Since, it’s a nice day how would you like to go for some motorcycle riding? And by the way, don’t forget your helmet, this time, because the last time we went motorcycle riding, you did. And we happened to jus to be lucky, that you didn’t happen to get into any accident because you would have had one nasty head injury if you did. So, I’ll see you in about fifteen minutes.”
So, as soon as Mike arrived over at Brian’s mansion, he’s ready to hop onto his motorcycle, and roaring to go. The two sped down the driveway, and flew through the streets for about an hour.
“Hey you,” Brian would shout to him, “I can’t keep up with you?”
And then, when they had enough bike riding, they ended up at Mike’s mansion where upon parking their bikes in the driveway, they played a few games of basketball for a couple of hours.
Even when Mike and Brian played basketball together on the weekends besides pool, the two would go back and forth between their mansions being that Brian’s the one who’s good at pool, and Mike’s very good when it comes to playing basketball.
When Mike would happen to get himself in a losing streak during one of the basketball games, close to the end of the game, he would surprise Brian by sneaking around in back of him, and stealing the ball away from him. And during the last round, then, Mike, usually, would come through his losing streak, and end up winning the game through stealing some points through earning some two pointer baskets.
At the end of their basketball playing, Mike said to Brian, “So, you thought, you’re one tough dude. Although, you’re good at basketball, can’t seem to beat me, can you?”
“Yeah, however when we’re over at my mansion, and playing pool together, I’m the one, who winds up winning most of the pool games. Am jus one smart pool shark. All it takes is to get one or two balls in the pockets on the break. And then, continue to get one ball after another lined up, and keep shooting the balls into the pockets until happening to win most of the games. Can’t match me, very well, because half the time, you don’t even get one chance to get any of your balls into the pockets.”
“That’s not going to stop me from trying to challenge you at any of the pool games. One of these times, it jus could happen that I might jus fool you. All it takes is for me to get all your balls jammed up in one spot. When that happens, you won’t be able to even shoot at any of your balls.”
“Think you can become a pool shark, don’t you, buddy? Jus watch me at the pool table, today. Will make you, wish, you never bet any money on any game against me,” he said to Mike.
“Jus wait, buddy, whenever we make bets on our pool games, I, usually, come around, and beat the pants off of you.”
“Better hold your breath. Always, seem to get lucky during most of the pool games,” said Brian to Mike when he jus happened to recover a win being that Brian jus scratched on the eight ball. “During the next games, during at least one or more of them, I’ll end up coming around, and surprise you by being the first one to get the eight ball in one of the pockets.
Mike never knows when Brian is planning one of his sneaky schemes on him. And some of these schemes jus seem to happen on the break when Brian ends up jamming a lot of his balls together, knocking a lot of them out of range.
So, jus before he’s ready to go for the break, Brian said to Mike during one of the games, “Can feel it inside me. Jus watch me, carefully, on this break. Am ready to scare the pants off of you.”
So, jus as Brian is shooting at the middle of the lined up balls, Mike has a shocked look on his face as Brian jus got the eight ball in one of the pockets. And that means jus in being getting the eight ball in right on the break before shooting at any other of the balls, counts as an instant win.
“Bet, you’re afraid to play any more games of pool against me, today. And you’ve jus lost a hundred dollar bet. That’s what you get for throwing your hard earned money away with the wind.”
About a year later, Mike decided it was time to move on. He has had enough of “Chicago County General” for a few seasons, and wants to go on to making movies again, and working towards becoming a producer, some day.
Mike hated to have to confront Carol on this puzzling situation in which he’s been involved. However that evening during their dinner break, he has to let her know, one way or another, what’s been going on in his life. So, as the two sat in the cafeteria on a green booth, having their dinner of a diet shrimp plate along with a cocktail, some black coffee, and a smoothie for dessert, he brought the up the issue concerning the series of which both of them have been cast members for a few years.
He said to her, “Have been having trouble, making a decision for, sometime, about whether I want to continue being a cast member of the series; or jus quit the series, and jus go back to making movies like I used to do before getting a part in this series. My dear Carol, I, really, doesn’t know how to approach you about this situation. Really, have enjoyed being in the cast of “Chicago County General”; really, think I’ve come to a big decision which I think, could affect our relationship. Have decided that it’s time to go back into making movies.”
“So you, really, mean that you’re going to quit the series? Thought you jus loved playing the part of a doctor.”
“Have been trying to battle the issue for a few months. Its jus that it concerns the amount of money, I’ve been able to make in getting parts for movies whenever a good part comes up. Before the series, seemed to, always, be able to land good parts in movies, and whenever I got a call for taking on one of these parts, usually, had pretty good luck after, personally, being handed the script for that character.”
So, what’s the deal? Are you, quitting the series for good? Do you have another part in a series, or even a movie, lined up?”
“
It jus so happens, that I jus received a phone call, yesterday, while at my apartment jus before leaving for the set. Think that I should jus go ahead, and take the part in the movie, “The Green Tomatoes”. Also, have been received an offer to produce that movie too. And have been feeling, that I’ve had enough of acting for the current series. So, it looks to me like I’ll be quitting the series.”
“If you happen to get another offer for the series, do you think you’ll jump at the chance later on in your career?”
“Yes, will take on a part in the series again if it jus happens to come up again in the future; and am not tied up in a movie. And if you, really, want to keep seeing me, I’ll, probably, be able to work something out with you as long as the filming for this movie doesn’t take up my weekends too.”
“Thought that us two were doing pretty good together as a couple as far as our relationship goes.”
“Thought so too, however, ever since, that divorce of mine, several years back, have been a bachelor for some time. And being used to being a bachelor has made it, difficult, for me to stay in a relationship with another woman.”
“So, am wrong in thinking, that I could develop a long-lasting relationship with you. However it doesn’t mean, that we can’t go on being good friends, although, neither of us ever fell in love with each other. One thing’s for certain, you’ve become like a soul sister to me.”
“So, are we going to keep seeing each other, now, that we’ve managed to get this close to each other?”
That’s something which, truly, can’t be answered. It, partly, depends on how I do in taking parts on movies again like the one; in which I’m lined up at the present. Am going to miss everyone with whom I’ve worked during the whole time, I’ve been in the series and the pilot too. Will do my best to keep in touch with you, however if we jus happen to drift away from each other, we’ll jus have to accept it. Its part of the ups and downs of being an actor; am sure you must have realized this by now jus because it is the way, the ball seems to row, sometimes.”
“Since, Brian and I have been like blood brothers right from the start, and live near each other, we haven’t turned gay. However it might be difficult for me to stay in touch with you, depending on if I can manage to find the time to do it.
However you’ve got to realize, that Brian and I, practically, live next door to each other, and have been neighbors, ever since, allowing him to have my red Cadillac convertible being he didn’t even having a decent way to get back and forth to the set in the beginning of the series before he was making enough money to be able to buy a mansion off me for a good price.”
Not too long ago after Mike quite the cast of “Chicago County General”, Carol found, she couldn’t handle playing the part of a resident nurse, any longer. This is, partly, because no one ever took over Mike’s part as a doctor during the series. Also, she has been missing Mike’s friendship, greatly, even because he doesn’t give her, any phone calls, anymore. And she couldn’t figure out why, and how he lost touch her unless, somehow, he lost her phone number.
Carol’s in deep thought, “It’s apparent that even when Mike quit the series that our relationship has been going downhill. Instead of keeping his promise of keeping in contact with me, Brian and Mike started seeing each other, practically, every weekend, for their usual games of pool and basketball. Have been missing Mike, so much, that I might be falling in love with him. However it, really, doesn’t help my loneliness in any way. Jus can’t handle these feelings anymore. So, will jus end up falling out of love with him anyways?”
When Mike started being in the movie, “Green Tomatoes”, besides playing a character of being an oversized tomato, he happened to run into other women on the set a lot. However any contact, he would end up having with any other woman, never seemed to end up as a friendship which would have any chance to blossom into an actual relationship. This is, usually, because while into making movies again, it’s been hard for him as far as trying to find another girlfriend goes. So, he jus got into playing more basketball and pool with Brian in which to fill any available time on the weekends.
However Mike, really, got into producing movies; more often than not, things happened to turn out, that he was able to stay in one location for longer periods of time being that he seemed to get better deals, money wise in producing movies. If he could, also, land a part in one of the movies which isn’t too compelling and challenging, sometimes, he was able to get a hand at producing that particular movie too if he could manage doing this, also, during that time.
CHAPTER III
So, it seemed that whenever it tended to happen, that he would jus end up getting a good break from doing movies, he would hang out at bars, more often. And one time, when he sat down at the bar on one of the brown leather covered bar stools, at a bar in the vicinity of London, England where he jus finished doing a movie there, he jus happened to be hanging out at a bar, one weekend. And while he sat at the bar, drinking a cocktail or two, he jus happened to get lucky, and some woman with brown hair of shoulder length, decided to sit down beside him on a one of the red leather bar stools.
As this woman happened to be sitting down, Mike asked her, “Well, miss, think you’re quite beautiful, and are very becoming to me. So, would you mind if a bought a drink or two for you?”
“In fact, don’t mind because I’m jus ready to order one, myself. This is one bar in London which at which I tend to hang out on the weekends. Would jus love a vodka and orange juice?”
“Okay sir,” Mike said to the bartender, a guy with short black hair in about his twenties “Would like to order a vodka and orange juice for this young lady, having jus seated herself beside me. Also, would like another Bloody Mary for myself.”
So, the bartender said to him, “Vodka and orange juice and a Bloody Mary coming up.”
As the bartender gave both the woman and Mike, their drinks, and Mike took a few sips of his other cocktail, he said to the woman, “Where are you from? And what kinds of job if any do you have if I may ask?”
“By the way, my name is Leigh Morsette, and jus happen to be a model. Have been modeling for a local agency which, mostly, hires gals like me who jus love modeling sexy clothes, mostly, from the Jacqueline Smith wardrobe line. Have been working for the modeling agency for a few months, now, and seem to make good money jus because they think, that I have a fabulous figure. What’s your name, and what kind of job do you have?”
Being Mike’s used to being a bachelor, the cat has a tongue for a moment or two, then, he said to her, “Acting is my bag. Have been acting for some time. And about a couple of months ago used to be a cast member for the series, “Chicago County General” for a few years. However jus felt, a few months ago, that it was time that I got back into making movies and I had jus finished producing, and acting for a movie called, “Green Tomatoes”.
“May I ask you, something? What kind of character did you play in that movie? I’ve heard about that one, however never got the chance to see it in the movies or on television. Have heard, that it’s a pretty wild movie. Is this the first time for the movie? Is it jus making its’ debut?”
He said to her somewhat off hand, “Whatever you do, please try not to laugh at me. It’s jus that I landed a crazy role in that movie. Played the role of an oversized green tomato. That’s because when the movie, actually, comes out in theatre, that it is going to be able to attract, mostly, the younger audience, mostly, because when the movie, first, comes out, it, definitely, is going to be an animated one.”
She replied, “Guess it is going to be somewhat of a crazy movie, mean a very funny one when it happens to make its’ debut. When is it scheduled to come out on screen?”
“He said to her, “Near the end of the year. It’ll, probably, come out on national television, though. That’s because the movie’s geared towards the general audience, mostly, the younger generation.”
That night as he’s lying in his waterbed, he said to himself, “Feel like I’ve, really, taken to her. Also, there’s something about her. She made me, feel very comfortable, tonight, being I have happened to have met her jus for the very first time.”
So, that night, jus as he’s falling asleep, he thought, “Boy, that woman, who I jus happened to meet tonight; she seems to, really, have all of the sex appeal, of which Carol, really, never had a lot. That’s, although, Carol’s, always, been a pretty woman. Wonder how I should approach her, next time. Since, she gave me, her phone number; I’d better give her, a call before I change my mind.”
So, somehow, he managed to get himself out of his water bed, and walked right over to his oak wood dresser, situated in his bedroom. As he did, he whispered to himself, “Better give her, a call before she hits the sack, herself. Also, better try to get a hold of Brian to whom I haven’t talked, or even had the chance to visit him, ever since, the making of Green Tomatoes.”
Then, that night, Mike brought his phone over to his waterbed, and made himself, comfortable. Felt that his waterbed is a very appropriate place for giving Leigh, a call. So, as he relaxed on his bed, he got Leigh on the phone, and said to her in a casual voice, “Hello is this Leigh Morsette? This is Mike, the guy, you jus met tonight over at the bar on a street in the vicinity of London. So, how’s the world, treating you?”
At first, she’s choked up for words, however she, finally, said to him, “It’s treating me like it, always, does. That’s whenever happening to land a modeling job. It’s one good feeling to have a steady job. And as far as the weather goes, really, don’t pay too much attention to it. Found out the hard way, that London’s known for all its’ rain. In fact, it’s where the line of rain wear, London Fog originated.”
“How do you like modeling in London, although, it rains a lot there?”
“Jus before landing another job with the model agency, lately, jus happened to talk about a week ago with the new agency woman. So, she’s the one whom gave me, a good raise as far as my modeling goes. In fact, she thinks I’m the most beautiful woman, she’s ever met, and has the best figure of anyone who’s ever modeled for this agency.”
“Is she the one, who got you into modeling sexy clothes? Because I think, that you, really, are the sexiest woman, I’ve ever met, and, probably, look very sexy whenever you’re modeling those kind of clothes.”
“In fact, she did, and it’s the highest paying job, I’ve ever had as far as modeling goes. The lines of clothes which I, jus recently, started modeling are from Victoria Principal. Having been in acting for some time, I’m sure, you’ve must have heard about her. She’s an actress, herself, along with modeling her own kind of sexy underwear. In fact, she stays pretty busy most of the time. Has very little time to even have much less a boyfriend to her name.”
“Assume that you jus have to take the jobs as they come along.”
“Yes, I do, however the present modeling job, I’ve got, probably, will be a long-lasting one because the head of the agency thinks, that I’ve got the perfect body for modeling Victoria Principal lingerie. The head of this modeling agency seems to be a pretty smooth woman. And because of her, this job has turned into a rewarding one for me as far as money goes.”
He didn’t even say another word to her because he’s so sleepy by now, that he, actually, dropped the phone on the bed. But since, the phone, still, is by his ear, she jus happened to hear him, mumbling to himself. So, then, jus decided to play it smooth until he called her back.
Since, Mike had the name of the modeling agency for which she worked, and also, her address and phone number and directions to her studio apartment, one day, on the weekend, he felt kind of lonely without knowing why. So, he hopped on his motorcycle, a Harley Davidson, which he bought, recently, being he received good money for acting and producing in his last movie. As he arrived at her studio apartment, and walked up to her door, he’s surprised to find her at home.
`As Leigh answered her doorbell, she, also, is surprised to see Mike at the door. So, she said to him, “What brings you here, may I ask? Thought you were going to call me, first before heading over here?”
“Jus decided to pay you, a surprise visit. Though, you would hang up on me if I called back because the last time, I called you, I fell asleep. And I jus happened to find my phone, lying on my waterbed, the next morning. Do you, by chance, have a motorcycle to your name? Or would you jus like to take a ride on mine being it has turned out to be a nice day, for once?”
“In fact, I do have one. It’s parked right in the parking lot right next to the edge of the apartment building. Jus wait here, I’ll go fetch my motorcycle and helmet, and be right back.”
So, she walked over to the side of the apartment building, and no time at all she’s back in front of the place where Mike’s got his motorcycle ready to take off again. As she hopped onto her motorcycle, and put on her helmet, the two took off down the street. And being it’s a mild day; the two are gone for about an hour, riding through the streets not far from the apartment building.
CHAPTER IV
Jus as the two arrived back where her studio apartment is, he has to get going, and get back to his mansion as his best friend, Brian, has told him over the phone, lately, that he’s planning to visit him at his apartment.
Then, jus as she’s ready to park her motorcycle in the parking lot, he rides his motorcycle right up to her, and then, as he parked it there for a couple minutes, he walked right up to her, and said to her, “Were such a pleasure to me to be with you, today. Would stay longer with you, and visit with you, however have to get going. A best friend of mine from a series, in which I used to be a cast member, is planning to stop over at my apartment. Bye, Leigh, dear. Will be calling you, soon,” he said as he gave her, a brief kiss.
So, he, quickly, took off on his motorcycle, and jus arrived at his apartment when his buddy, Brian, showed up. He’s jus getting out of a yellow cab, and in doing so, literally, ran up to him as Mike parked his motorcycle. The two are so surprised to see each other, that the cat has both of their tongues for a moment or two as the two wrapped their arms around each other.
Then, as the two walked inside Mike’s apartment, Brian sat down on a black leather couch as Mike walked over to the dining room area, and got him, a non-alcoholic beer out of the refrigerator which is his favorite drink whenever the two get together.
And as Mike set the beer down on a glass coffee table right in front of Brian, Mike sat down beside him with a cocktail, himself. As he did, he said to Brian, “How have you been doing as far as the series goes? Are you, still, a member of the cast in this series?”
“Have been very surprised at how long, the series has lasted, and, still, going strong. In fact, I’ve been with the series, six years, so far. And I’ve saved enough money throughout the years which has enabled me to be able to take a trip to London on an airplane to see you. Know it’s been awhile, since, we’ve seen each other. And jus in the last year or so, Carol decided to leave the series too jus so she could get into movies too. Guess you’re the one, who has inspired her to get into it.”
“While you’re, here, how would you like to play some games of pool, and not for money, this time, either? Of all places, have a pool table in my bedroom.”
Jus as Brian’s got a pool stick all chalked up, and put some white powder on his hands, he’s surprised, that Mike, actually, bought himself, a pool table because when he used to live in Hollywood in the same neighborhood as Brian, he didn’t have one back then.
So, jus as Brian’s taking one, long aim at the pool balls which Mike, already, has lined up on the table, Brian said to him, “Am quite surprised, that you got yourself, a pool table, because when you used to live in Hollywood, California, you never had the desire back then to get yourself one.”
“It’s, only, because, back then, I jus figured, that why should I buy one when I could jus take my motorcycle, or jus walk over to your mansion, and play pool there at your place. Another thing was that you’re, always, the pool shark. And because I’ve, always, loved playing basketball, so much, I have, always, been hooked on it. However because there never has been a basketball court there at the apartment building, and the manager wouldn’t allow me to put one up in the back of the building by the pool, I decided to buy myself, this pool table. That way, at least, when I had a lot of times on my hands between movies, or jus not, always, busy having to study script, I jus needed something to do.”
“How long have you had this pool table? And how did you managed to get this pool table inside your apartment?”
“It seemed kind of crazy back when I bought this one, about a month or so ago, however for an extra fifty bucks, the store owner had delivered the pool table in parts. And then, right after the delivery, he hired a friend or two, to put it together for me. And that cost another fifty bucks.”
“Bet you have been practicing pool a lot, haven’t you? Also, bet you had the feeling back when you brought this pool table, that, somehow, I would get the money to be able to travel over, here, jus so that we could challenge each other to some pool games again.”
“Know it’s kind of risky, however I’m placing a bet of hundred bucks on the next two games. And if I jus happen to win the bet, you owe a night out to dinner on your pocket. Is that a deal with you, my buddy?”
“Since, I don’t think, you could ever figure out any my schemes to help you win any games, I’ll take you up on that bet.”
So, Brian took the break, and on the very first game, he, almost, scared Mike out of his shoes as he got the eight ball in on the break. So, right then and there, not, only, did Mike, lose his hundred bet, however he turned out to be the one, who, also, had to pay for dinner, tonight. And, since, it’s getting close to that time, after the two played a few games of pool, and Brian won every game not even giving Mike, one chance, to hit at any of his balls, Mike decided to throw the towel in.
Then, since, there’s a restaurant, called, “Captain’s Place”, jus down the street, Mike said to him, “How would you like to go for a motorcycle ride? I have an extra motorcycle, and it seems weird, that I’ve never been able to sell it after I bought a new Harley Davidson motorcycle. However have got an extra helmet, so, you’re welcome to use it.”
After Mike made sure, that Brian has a helmet on his head, the two, then, hopped on Mike’s motorcycles, and took off down the street, so fast, that the strong wind, outside, almost, made them fall off their bikes. Soon, the two arrived at Captain’s Place, and parked the motorcycles in the parking lot. Then, with their helmets in hand, they entered the restaurant; jus after they’re seated in one of the red booths inside a greenhouse, the two ordered raw shrimp, a salad, and a smoothie.
One afternoon, right after Leigh’s done modeling some Victoria Principal lingerie over at a local television in the vicinity of London, Mike happened to not be doing a movie. So, she met him over at his studio apartment; as she arrived there, she beeped her horn. So, he walked outside into the parking lot, dressed in his black leather and black boots.
Since, he hasn’t seen her in about a week, the two got into some chatting jus before leaving for their motorcycle riding together.
As she said to him, curiously, “How did your visit with Brian work out?”
“As soon as Brian arrived over at my studio apartment, the two of us got into playing a few games of pool, and he ended up winning the bet of one hundred dollars. Also, being I had to treat him to dinner, we rode my motorcycles over to Captain’s Place jus down the street, and ordered our dinners with a smoothie along with the usual black coffee.”
“What did you two do when you both got back to your studio apartment?”
“After the two of us were threw eating dinner, we rode back to my studio apartment, and played several more pools games, this time, didn’t bet on any of the games. And then, I ended up winning every game, we played that night. So, then, by that time, we both were famished.”
“Didn’t know, that your best friend was that good at pool. Has he, always, been this good at pool?”
“Ever since, I, first, met him during the pilot for the series, he’s been able to beat at most of the games. However, every time, I bet some money on a game, I, usually, won the game, but not this time. Also, I had to pay for dinner for him being that, also, was part of the bet if I lost the first couple of games.”
“I guess it looks like your friend is unbeatable when it comes to pool. And if I were you, I wouldn’t even attempt another bet on a game anymore. Since, you’ve just been doing movies; think you should hold off on those bets for awhile.”
“So, then, I ordered our smoothies for carryout from the restaurant, and then, right after we both had our smoothies, we jus relaxed on my black leather couch, and jus sat, there, for a couple hours. That’s when Brian told me, he’s considering quitting the series too jus because his character needs more storyline and more moving script.”
CHAPTER V
One night, Leigh and Mike decided to go motorcycle riding jus because Mike has an urge to go bike riding. And neither one knew, that dusk is around the corner. As two hopped onto their bikes, the two went motorcycle riding in a different area with which she thought, he’s familiar being that he likes that kind of riding a lot. But they ended up in a area after dark where he didn’t expect to come against a lot of traffic even the two were riding with great caution, and had on their bright lights.
Out of the blue, the two couldn’t even see where they’re heading being that fog’s beginning to settle in the area. And some guy drove his car right through a red light, that night. As he did, this forced Mike and Leigh to head in another direction to avoid hitting the car.
Jus as Leigh made a fast turn on the motorcycle, Mike heard her, yell out, “Oh no, this guy has jus gone through a red light; and can feel it in my bones--that I’m about to fall off the motorcycle.”
This swift, turn that they had to make, caused them both to lose control of their driving, causing their bikes to end up on one side. As of now, both of them are pinned down underneath a motorcycle.
Since, Mike and Leigh were lucky; that a cop car seemed to be heading down that street, one of the cops in the car jus happened to notice that guy who ran the red light. But since, the driver went in a big chase after the guy; he called on his walkie talkie to another cop who happened to be in the area, and said to him in a desperate voice.
“Have spotted a hit and run accident; and we are after the guy as we’ve jus spotted him, leaving the scene. So, please come right over to Hollywood Street if you haven’t, already, done so. There are two people pinned underneath their motorcycles, and need to be rescued. So, also, call an ambulance and rescue squad over to the area of Hollywood Street near the red light closest to the Captain’s Place on the double.”
So, immediately, the other cop arrived, and the car’s pulled over to the side of the road. And he turned the car around, sideways, to force the traffic to take a side road. So, then, the cops got out of the car with the siren on. And while one cop lifted the motorcycles off of Mike and Leigh, one of the cops asked Mike, some questions about the accident while the cops waited for an ambulance and fire squad.
Then, the cop said to Mike while he and Leigh, still, were lying on the street, “What are your names?”
“We are Mike Fuller and Leigh Morsette,” replied Mike.
“Okay, said the cop “Did either of you notice what was going on before any of you hit the street?”
Leigh’s in somewhat of a daze, so, Mike said, “As we were nearing the light, some guy in red car of which I didn’t get the license number, went right through a red light. In order, to avoid hitting the car, we both had to make a quick turn to the side of the road. As we did, our bikes went out of control. That’s when our bikes tipped over, pinning us underneath them.”
“How are you two, feeling, right now? Are any of you, feeling any pain, anywhere?”
“Yes, I am, officer,” said Mike, “my right leg is killing me. Can’t even move it.”
“Don’t try to move it. Help should be here, any minute now. How about you, Leigh? Are you, hurting, anywhere?”
“No, not really, but did pass out upon hitting the ground. But feel okay now.”
“Think both of you should be checked out. Jus give me, your address, Mike, and I’ll make sure, that both motorcycles are taken care of.”
Mike said to the cop, “My address is 1144 Hollywood Street jus off the highway. In fact, both of those motorcycles are mine by the way. So, please make sure, that they both are taken over my studio apartment building into the parking lot, and locked, securely. Both of the motorcycles have their own locks on them. Jus don’t want anyone to try to take off with any of them on me.
In fact, the woman’s address is 55679 Morton Lane which, also, is jus off the highway in London too. But after we both are checked out, and are ready for discharge, the woman can be dropped off at my studio apartment. She has been given a key to my apartment too, and so she can get into the place, jus in case, she’s released from the hospital before I am.”
So, the ambulance and fire squad arrived at the scene, a few minutes later. Once, the paramedics are around, one of them checked out Mike’s leg because he has no feeling in that leg. Also, it’s because he’s in so much pain, that he doesn’t to be able to feel any of it. So, the paramedic suspected that he had a broken leg, so, he wrapped that leg up while the other paramedic checked Leigh out, especially, because she passed out as the motorcycle had hit the ground.
The other paramedic couldn’t find anything wrong with Leigh other than she has the feeling, that she’s about to pass out, again. So, then, the paramedics placed both Mike and Leigh on stretchers, and as they were wheeled into the ambulances, the paramedics took off to the nearest hospital. While they were on their way, there, the cop car and the fire squad took off.
As the ambulance pulled into the emergency entrance of London County General, Mike and Leigh were wheeled into the emergency room. In less than an hour, both Mike and Leigh received emergency care. The doctors over at the hospital gave Leigh, blood tests, a head CT, and Mike and Leigh both were taken for x-rays of their whole body.
And Leigh’s told by a doctor, “Well, Leigh, the reason, you passed out before on the ground, is because you had a seizure, and the CT has revealed a head injury. But you, mostly, need a lot of rest for a week or so, certainly, you, probably, will be coming down with bad headaches; however you shouldn’t be having any more headaches after a few weeks.”
As a doctor talked to Mike, he told him, “The only thing, I’ve been able to find wrong with you, is that you have a broken leg. That’s why the nurse is putting your leg into a cast. And it, most likely, will take about a month to heal, completely. And after a months’ time, you should have a recheck of your leg to be sure, it’s healing, properly. And as soon as it’s healed, the cast can be taken off your leg.”
Then, Leigh was put through an MRI machine because she passed out again while at the hospital. And the MRI revealed that she has come down with epilepsy, and then, a doctor put on medication for it. And both her and Mike were put on medication for panic attacks, and were kept overnight for observation because they both were found to have come down with panic seizures, the first symptoms of it.
The next morning Mike and Leigh were discharged from the hospital, and since, being that Brian quit the series, he had been a cast member for sometime, and, also, rented out a studio apartment not far from Mike, Brian drove his blue truck over to the hospital.
And when he arrived in Mike’s room, he’s so surprised, that Mike doesn’t know what to say to him. But in a couple of minutes, he, finally, got a hold of myself, and said to Brian, “How did you manage get the money for another trip, here?”
“Maybe, should have called you, first, but have some good news for you in a way. Quit my part on the series, and am living in a studio apartment not far from yours. Also, heard that you two were in motorcycle accidents through the news. Since, I found out, to what hospital you two were taken, then, called up the hospital, this morning, and found out, you two were ready to be discharged.”
“It’s good to see you again, buddy. Haven’t seen you in a couple of weeks. Are you living in London, now, and do you have a place of your own here in the city?”
“In fact, do have a studio apartment like yours. Don’t live that far from you or the hospital for that matter. And I came with my blue truck which is, fairly, new, and thought you two, would appreciate a ride back home.”
“Why are you living in London now? Quit the series, didn’t you?”
“Yes, in fact, I did. Didn’t like the story line anymore. Wasn’t getting enough appearances in the series like I used to get. So, jus decided to quit at the last minute, and try to get into movies again like I was doing before joining the series.”
So, he took both Leigh and Mike back to Mike’s studio apartment, and there Leigh stayed for a few days and nights after Brian took her over to get some clothes for herself. And she slept on the couch with no trouble at all. Also, Mike had therapy for his leg after the cast got taken off, and the therapy done right at his apartment.
So, Mike and Leigh have been going steady for awhile, ever since, that first day, the two met at a bar. Also, the two were faithful motorcycle riders, and went back into it as soon as Mike’s leg was healed, and both have their panic attacks under control. So, Leigh’s been sleeping with Mike over at his studio apartment, a lot, and has been going together about a year.
So, one night when the two were lying in his waterbed, Mike decided to have a serious conversation with her, so, he said to her, somewhat nervous, “It’s apparent that the two of us have been going together, ever since, that first time, we met at that bar. Also, can tell, that I fell in love with you at first sight. Never, actually, let me know, if you loved me or not, so, please tell me, the truth. Are you in love with me?”
“To tell you, the truth, I’ve never told you, that I am in love jus because I wasn’t sure of my love for you until we started sleeping together, almost, every night.”
“Since, we’ve been going together for about a year what’s your opinion about getting married?”
“Well, this is a surprise question for me. That’s being that it’s never been on my mind until tonight? Well, you could say that I’ve been having a lot of daydreams about us, getting married, and having children. So, if you’re going to propose to me, please go about it in the proper way.”
“Okay my dear, Leigh. Know you, still, have your modeling job. However it’s kept you pretty busy, and I have my acting job, although, I haven’t had any offer, recently, for another movie. However we, still, have our time on the weekends like we’ve been having. So, will you, marry me? Am asking you with all my heart and soul?”
“Yes, I, really, do want to marry you, my dear Mike. Jus am surprised, that, all of a sudden, you’re bringing up the subject of marriage. Although, we’ve been going together for some time, still, figured, that, since, you’ve been a bachelor, most of your life, that you, never again, wanted to get married.”
“Do you want a big or a small wedding? My opinion involving around what type of wedding, what type of wedding would be best for us, is that, since, only, my friend Brian and you live near me, that it would be hard to have a big wedding. Any friends, I made while doing the movie, ‘Green Tomatoes’ were, only, casual friends. Also, I’ve lost touch with any friends which I’ve made while being on the set for that movie. Also, any family I have, live out of the country. So, it’s best, that we have a small one.”
However Leigh fell asleep before he could say anything more about the wedding.
In the morning, after awakening to Mike, she, still, seemed like she’s asleep. So, he didn’t want to wake her, although, whenever she slept over at his apartment, that she, usually, is awake by now. So, in about an hour when he decided to have smoothie, he tried to wake her up because she should have been gone on her modeling job, already.
However as leaned over her, he realized, she isn’t breathing. So, he, immediately, started to perform some CPR on her. However, since, she isn’t responding to it, he, immediately, called up Brian being in him, having played the role as a doctor all this time on “Chicago County General”, that he, probably, would know what to do. So, he grabbed his cell phone which is near his bed, and called up Brian.
As soon as Brian answered his phone, Mike said to him in a desperate voice, “I’ve been trying to get Leigh up out of bed, however she isn’t breathing. Tried to perform some CPR on her and it doesn’t seem to be helping. Since, you’ve played an emergency physician for some time in a hospital series, what do you think should be done next? She seems to be too bad to attempt bringing her to a hospital. And by the time, paramedics get here, it might be too late.”
So, Brian’s somewhat sleepy right now, however as he took a few sips of his coffee, he said to Mike, “Since, I live just down the street from you, I’ll bring the bag, I used to use on the set. And then, will be right there sooner than you can bat your eyelashes.”
Then, Brian grabbed a smoothie, and coffee, and ran for his truck. Upon hopping into it, he drove very fast over to Mike’s apartment, breaking the speed limit all the way there. However he figured that if the police ever stopped him for speeding, it more than likely, wouldn’t happen in London.
So, as soon as he arrived at the studio apartments where Mike lives, he grabbed his bag. And then, he ran inside the apartment building and over to Mike’s apartment. This is being the door’s open to Mike’s apartment as he knew; Brian wasn’t going to pull out of this one.
As Brian rushed inside the apartment, and as he approached Mike near the door, Brian said to him in a desperate voice, “Where is Leigh? She doesn’t seem to be on the couch like usual.”
“Leigh is over here in the bedroom. I’ve been trying CPR on her, ever since, noticing, that she wasn’t breathing. Not only have that, I, also, repeatedly, taken her blood pressure. However the reading on the cuff is very low, right now.”
So, as Brian walked over to where Leigh is lying in bed, first, he performed some CPR on her. When that didn’t work, he, then, got out some dopamine, and administered it to Leigh. While he’s waiting to see if it will work, he did some more CPR on her. And as he got a faint pulse from her, he, then, gave her, some more dopamine as her blood pressure is, still, reading, very low. However, he’s, still, having Mike, who’s in tears, do compressions on her. Nothing seemed to work on her as Brian was doing CPR, continuously, on her, and Mike has been doing compressions for about a half an hour. Also, since, Leigh wasn’t responding during any of these times in which Brian has been trying to get a pulse from her, finally, Brian said to Mike.
“I know you love Leigh however I don’t know how to say this to you any other way. I’m afraid, that she, actually, and unfortunately, has met her death,” as Mike, really, started to burst into tears which were, literally, running down his puffy and red face.
ENDING:
As soon as Brian announced Leigh’s death, he didn’t fail to go into a panic seizure. And the poor guy is gasping for breath, and, barely, saying to Brian, “Oh no, Brian, not only, can’t I get my breath, however I am feeling like I’m going to die.”
So, then, Brain, immediately, gave him, some more Ativan, a heavy dose of it after setting up an IV into his arm, to bring Mike out of his panic seizure as Brian made him, lie down on his waterbed. That’s, although, he, currently, is, still, on Ativan for panic seizures which he’s been having as a result of his motorcycle accident. Then, Brian tried his best to be patient, and give the medicine, a chance to work in Mike’s system.
However although Brian gave Mike, a mega dose of Ativan through an IV, he, still, wasn’t seeming to be breathing, and upon taking his pulse and blood pressure, they both were quite low at this time. So, then, Brian gave him, a breathing treatment through a breathing machine, he had inside his doctor bag. And this breathing treatment, Brian administered to Mike for, at least, twenty minutes.
