NEw schizophrenia medications

NEW SCHIZOPHRENIA DRUGS
Talnetant and Osanetant are both NK3 (neurokinin 3, a neurotransmitter receptor in the brain) antagonists, being independently developed by GlaxoSmithKline and Sanofi-Synthelabo, respectively. Talnetant is in phase II FDA clinical trials, and Osanetant is in phase III. Neurokinin receptors play a role in movement; therefore, both medications may potentially alleviate some of the movement side effects caused by other neuroeptics. Early date for Talnetant, according to a GlaxoSmithKlilne press release, showed that a small subset of patients on a high dose of the drug had a positive response with good tolerability, and a minimum of side effects such as weight gain. Talnetant may also have a beneficial impact on cognitive deficits. Journal articles on the effects of NK3 antagonists (not not on Talnetant or Osanetant specifically) report some positive improvements in subjects with schizophrenia.
Paliperidone ER is the active metabolite of antipsychotic medication Risperdal (risperidone). It fully blocks serotonin receptors, and partially blocks D2 dopamine receptors. It is being developed by Johnson and Johnson. The metabolite may end up beling clinically beneficial for patients who don't respond to convential treatment with risperidone. No research information was found on this specific compound.
RG1068 is a synthetaic human secretin compoundd, developed by Repligen. It has already proven helpful for auatistic patients (the same drug is in phase III trials for treating autism), and Repligen is conducting phase II trials to determine whether it might be useful for treating some of the autistic-type symptoms in schizophrenia patients. Early research indicates preliminary promise for the compound as an adjunct treatment; patients given the drug in placebo-controlled trials show modest, although transient, symptom improvement.
Seromycin (d-cycloserine) is a partial NMDA receptor agonist, or a glutamatergic agent. It acts to enhance glutamate receptor responses in certain areas of the brain. Because esearch has suggesed that glutamate dysfunction may be a cause of negative symptoms, seromycin and other glutamatergic agents are being tested for their therapeutic effects. Early studies with such agents have shown mixed results – some studies show ono effects (although small sample size and high drop-out rates are noted as possible confounding factors), while others indicate that schizophrenia medications. It is in phase III clinical trials.
AMPAkines are a series of related compounds designed to improve memory and cognition. Some compounds designed to improve memory and cognition. Some compounds (notably CX-516 for schizophrenia) are currently in phase II clinical trials. Research indicates that ampakines may help to enhance the effects of typical and atypical antipsychotics, although they may not be therapeutically effective on their own.
Galantimine is a compound that enhances cholinergic function (the activity of acetycholine) in the hippocampal and cortex regions of the brain. Perliminary research shows that it may improve negative and cognitive symptoms of schixophrenia. It is currently in phase II clinical trials to establish effects on cognitive and learning deficits.
Memantine is an NMDA receptor antoganist, designed to address the cognitive symptoms of schizophrenia. Research shows that NMDA hyperactivity in some areas of the brain may cause some of the cognitive dysfunction seen in schizophrenia patients. It is currently in Phase II clinical trails. No further research information was found regarding the compound.
Modafinil, a drug currently used to treat narcolepsy, is now being examined for its potential to improve cognitive symptoms and working memory in schizophrenia patients wit certain genotypes. The mechanism of action is still not entirely clear, although it appears that the medication induces wakefulness through act ivation of sleep-wake centers in the hypothalamus, and increases dopamine levels in the pre-frontal cortex. Modafinil is currently in Phase II clinical trials, to test whether it improves working memory in schizophrenia patients with particular gene variations.
Ocaperidone is a D2 dopamine ant agonist, as well as serotonin antagonist. Due to the dual-action mechanism of the drug, early research reports it to have “haloperidol-like effects” on the positive symptoms of schizophrenia, but with a lower incidence of extrapyramidal side effects (more like the side-effect profile of risperidone). Neuro3d, the France, based developers of the medication, report that they are nearing the end of phase II clinical trials. They expect further results to be released in March or April of this year.
Tolcapone is a COMT gene inhibitor that acts in the midial prefrontal cortex of the brain. Its measurable effects in rat brains include an increase of dopamine neurotransmitter levels in the prefrontal cortex. This medication augments some of the actions of clozapine, and may be helpful for relieving some of the cognitive deficits associated with antipsycotic treatment (esp. working memory deficits). It is currently in Phase II clinical trials.

T he Obama Presidency

THE OBAMA PRESIDENCY
The Obama presidency feels like a new start for everyone, and whether you cast your vote for Barack or not, there is no denying the excitement building in the country.
Hopefully, the next four years foster a new commitment to a most American concept. That is that every person is a person of worth. We, the people, one by one are important to the American experience. Every one of us has the same rights, whether a multi-billionaire of a homeless person in the streets. Each one has the opportunity to live, to dream and to better themselves and their community in a place called Freedom. Hopefully, that's what the next four years will be about.

RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN BORDERLINE PERSONALITY DISORDER AND BIPOLAR DISORDER

RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN BORDERLINE PERSONALITY DISORDER AND BIPOLAR DISORDER, LONG-TERM STUDY
Main Category: Bipolar
Also Included in: Depression, Psychology/Psychiatry; Mental Health
Results from a long-term study indicates that borderline personality disorder (BPD) and bipolar disorder do not commonly coexist, a finding which has important implications for treatment. The findings are reported in the July 2006 issue of The American Journal of Psychiatry (AJP), the official journal of the American Psychiatric Association (APA).
BPD is a long-term, pervasive pattern of impulsive behavior, instability and changeable mood. Wheter it is a variant of bipolar disorder is the focus of the AJP article, “Descriptive and Longitudinal Observations of the Relationship of Borderline Personality Disorder and Bipolar Disorde” by John G. Gunderson. M.D., medical director for the Borderlline Personality Disorder Treatment Center at McLean Hospital.
The study found only modest connections to bipolar disorder among 196 patients with BPD. The rate ofco-occuring bipolar disoder in these patients was 19 percent. In patients with other personality disorders, the rate was eight percent. Among the patients who did not have bipolar disorder at the beginning of the study, eight percent of the BPD patients developed bipolar disorder over the next four years, compared to three percent of the patients with other personality disorders.
Despite these differences, the rates of bipolar disorder in the BPD patients remained under 20 percent. This low frequency has important implications for treatment, as many BPD patients receive only a diagnosis of bipolar disorder is the subject of intensive neurobiological research and psychopharmacological treatment,” stated Robert Freedman, M.D.AJP editor-in-chief. “This study is an important step in examining the extent of overlap between the two disorders.”
The co-occurrence of bipolar disorder did not worsen the course of BPD over four years. Remission occurred in two-thirds of both the BPD patients with and without bipolar disorder.
In an accompaning editorial, Michael H. Stone, M.D., of Columbia University notes the article's “more balanced position on the controversy” about the relationship of borderline personality to bipolar disorder. He suggests the the moderately higher rates of bipolar disorder in patients with PBD disorder may indicated a subgroup of BPD patients with higher genetic risk for bipolar disorder.
This study was funded by the National Institute of Mental Health.

NEW SCHIZOPHRENIA MEDICATIONS

NEW SCHIZOPHRENIA MEDICATIONS IN DEVELOPMENT
Schizophrenia Medications Currently in Phase III trials:
Asenapine (for positive/negative symptoms)
bifepronox (positive, negative, cognitive symptoms; may also relieve side effects)
lioperidone/Zomaril (positive, negative, cognitive symptoms)
Lamictal (adjunct therapy; may improve positive symptoms)
Osanetant (for movement side-effects caused by traditional neoroleptics)
Palperidone (for treatment-refractory patients)
RG1068 (for autistic-type symptoms in schizophrenia patients)
Seromycin/d-cycloserine (adjunct atreatment, for negative symptoms)
Schizophrenia Medications Currently in Phase II trials:
AMPAkines/CX-516 (to enhance the therapeutic effects of current medications)
Galantamine (for cognitive/negative symptoms and learning deficits)
Memantine (for cognitive symptoms)
Modafinil (for cognitive symptoms and working memory)
Ocaperidone (for positive symptoms, with few side effects)
Talnetant (for movement side-effects, cognitive symptoms)
Tolcapone (for cognitive symptoms)
Asenapine is a serotonin and dopamine (5HT/D2) antagonist, part of a class of atypical antipsychotics
that have typically been more effective than medications that act only at D2 receptors. For example, clozapine, risperadone, and olanzapine all have serotonin-dopamine antagonist properties, and these drugs are popular for their low incidence of side effects (particularly EPS side effects) and their efficacy against both positive and negative symptoms. Asenapine is being jointly developed by Pfizer and Oranon, and is in phase III clinical trials. Early data from previous trials (according to a press release from Pfizer) shows good tolerability and superior efficacy when tested against a placebo. No information was available about the nature or the methods of the study.

Bifepronox is in phase III clinical trials, set to launch in the U.S. Market sometime in 2007. It is a partial dopamine agonist/antagonist, as well as a serotin receptor agonist. It is expected that partial dopamine agonist action will have beneficial effects for positive, negative, and cognitive symptoms, while the serotonergic agonist action will help alleviate some side effects and possibly combat depression and anxiety that can accompany schizophrenia treatment. Early results report little to no weight gain, and no cardiac or EPS effects.
Psychiatric News-Med Checks (May 2004). This is the only public source available that details anything about the results of early trials. Therer were no links to the actual trials themselves, nor any further data on research on this compound.
Lloperidone (Zomari) is current ly being developed by Titan Pharmaceuticals, after being dropped by Movartis due to concerns that the drug may cause cardiac arrhythmias (specifically, it might increase the QT interval of the heartbeat). A study in the Nov 2001 issue of psychiaatric times noted to cardiac abnormalities in 10 paatients receiving 0.5 mg-8mg of loperidone; however, this is an extraordinarily small sample size, and the study was sponsored by Novartis. In other words, these safety concerns have yet to be resolved in the public domain. However, loperidone is still in development (currently in phase III FDA clinical trials). Because it acts as an antigonist on many different receptors-including several different classes of dopamine, serotonin, and norepinephrine receptors-it has the potential to alleviate a wide range of symptoms.

Lamictal is an FDA approved mood-stabilizer for bipolar disorder, and is now in phase III clinical trials as an adjunct treatment for schizophrenia. Research shows that a combination therapy of slozapine and lamictal in treatment-resistant schizophrenia patients results in reduced positive symptoms and improved general pathophysiology.

ISLAND LOVE BY CHERYL V.-STORY IN PROGRESS

ISLAND LOVE

INTRODUCTION:

Michele has been married to her third husband, Al, for about a years however, her marriage to him, simply, didn’t seem to be working out for them. At the time, she happened to be pregnant with Sophia, and lost as to what to do, because she wasn’t sure if he wanted her to have this baby.

So, then, all of a sudden, what turned out to be a big shock to Al was that he thought his wife, Michele, loved him with all her heart. However, she jus has this sudden urge inside of her to want to get away from him. So, then, she jus wanted to get away from it all, away from Los Angeles.

In moving away from her husband, at that time, she wasn’t, fully, aware of being away from her third husband, how this could affect her girl when she came into the world. However, she didn’t want to put up with her third husband, Al, not showing all his love for either her or her baby.

Somehow, she has gotten the idea, that he has wanted her to have an abortion, from the very moment; she found out, she’s pregnant, and not even allows her baby to be born. So, then, this made her, believe he didn’t’ love her, anymore. This meant, she has to get away from him as soon as possible, before he could talk her into getting rid of her baby, or even giving up her baby for adoption, once, it had been born.

So, then, at that time, the two happened to have been living in this beautiful gray brick ranch house in Los Angeles. She wanted to move, somewhere, where she could set up her own business, like, even, fulfilling her dream, she had had, lately, of running a boathouse on like a island or remote place, somewhere, far away from her third husband.

One day, when he noticed her, having been rushing around, that morning, packing things, he said to her, “My darling, what’s up with you, this morning? Why have you been running around the house, acting like you are desperate to get away from this house?”

She jus happened to be inside their bedroom, packing some suitcases, at that time, so, she said to him in a desperate, “Lately, I have been having this feeling inside, that for some reason, I can’t seem to comprehend, fully, that because you’re the one, whom got me pregnant with a girl baby. That you, suddenly, have been acting like you weren’t the one, whom got me, pregnant, to begin with.”

“Oh, c’mon,” he replied, having this look of awe and surprise on his face, as he, briefly, cupped his hand over his mouth, “What have I done to deserve this from you? You know I’ve, always, wanted to have children, even from the very first day, on which we were married. So, what’s going on with you, this morning?”

“It’s jus that, suddenly, I’ve gotten this feeling inside me, that you don’t seem to care about the baby inside me, anymore. And also, I’ve been feeling like because you don’t want me to have a baby, that you, also, want me to have an abortion, the sooner, the better. So, don’t try to tell me, you, still, love me.”

“Why in the world, are you, all of sudden, packing things? Are you planning to leave me or something? Why would you do such a drastic thing like this, when I’m sure you realize, jus how much I’ve loved you from the very first day, we, actually, met.”

“What the trouble, actually, is, is that you don’t seem to be sure of your love for me. So, at this time, the best thing for me to do, although, my baby might be without a father, is to move away, far away, somewhere, where I’ll be sure to be out of contact with you.”

“Aren’t you even going to leave me, an address or phone number, my dear? How can you do such a thing to hurt me so bad, inside?”

“The best thing you can do for me and the baby at this time is to allow me jus to go my own way.”

So, then, she jus went ahead, and left the house, that morning, without saying another word to him. And she gathered all of her stuff, together, including some of her furniture, whatever would fit inside the huge blue and white trailer. Then, without saying goodbye to Al, she jus hopped inside the trailer, as he started yelling at her, “Please don’t take off without him. And to please have a good talk with him about the situation.”

However, she ignored him, as he, frantically, tried to run after her, trying to get her to stop the trailer, why giving her, the signal with his arm, by holding his right hand and arm up.

When he couldn’t run, anymore, tears seem to come to his eyes. And then, he jus ran inside the house, and flopped himself on the bed in their bedroom, trying to get himself, together.

Now, he was very lost as what to do about the situation, because, now, he has no way of knowing, exactly, where she would take off to. However, he would be able to go ahead, and have the ranch house all to himself.

In the meantime, as she was on her way over to a travel agency in the area to get some information on where the nearest islands would be, and where she could take the trailer with her on the trip, there, her cell phone rang. However, jus in knowing, it could be Al, trying to call her, something inside her, tempted her to answer the phone.

Upon answering the phone, she wasn’t surprised to hear Al’s voice, so, she said to him, feeling much sorrow over leaving him, “So, it’s you. I can’t fail to recognize your voice. And don’t ask me where I’m heading at this time, because my business, not any of yours, anymore.”

“What is going on, now? You’re the one, who wanted the separation, not me. And why can’t we jus start over, again? I can sense that you are getting ready to take off, somewhere, however, why won’t you tell me, jus where you two are going, so, I can stay in touch with you.”

“So, what you’re saying is that you want to stay friends with me. Well, I know it’s going to be a little hard on our daughter, however, since, I have been pregnant with her, you, always, have been acting as if you never wanted her to be born.”

“You know, we can remedy the situation, if you’ll jus allow me to talk to her.”

“I know darn well, that after the baby’s born, she isn’t going to want anything to do with you, jus because you dropped her as your daughter. And now, whether you like it or not, you’re going to have to pay for it.”
So, then, without another word between the two, she jus hung up on him.

CHAPTER I

Ten Years Later:

Her girl isn’t a baby, anymore, and the two are living over at another ranch home in Los Angeles, and have been, ever since, she has been born. And at this time, her daughter, now, at the age of ten, jus happens to be lying down in her bedroom.

However, neither she nor her mother has been able to stand being separated from her third husband, Al. And she hasn’t, really, had any other boyfriend in her life. So, her mother is, seriously, thinking about moving away with her daughter, this time, to some place, where they’ll be far away from her third husband.

And Sophia jus happened to ask her mother, who was on the phone, and she told her, “It was your father on the phone, and I let him know, that you don’t want anything to do with him, anymore. He should know this by now, since, he’s the one, who talked me into the separation.”

However, then, Sophia said to her, “What makes you think, I don’t want to see my dad, anymore? I can’t understand why he never has come over to see either you or me. And he never has been a good father to me, at any time. So, are you, mom, and going to do anything about this?”

Then, if Sophia was kind of sad, upon being her mother, really, was the one, who wanted the separation from her third husband, in the first, she didn’t seem to, really, being showing it in her face.

However, upon the two hopping into her mom’s blue and white trailer, tears, really, started trailing down Sophia’s cheeks. And at this time, she turned, suddenly, very silent, and was feeling, as though, her world was ready to cave in.

The two weren’t, very certain, on, exactly, where they were heading at this time, but all her mother knew, was that she wanted to get to the airport in time to get on her way to where they were some islands. So, on their way to the airport, suddenly, her mother’s mind was storming with ideas, but wanted to make sure, her daughter agreed with her on where they wanted to move to.

So, while tapping her hands on the steering wheel, and feeling very frantic inside, hoping that the soft music, coming from the CD player in front of the trailer, was going to calm down both her and Sophia. What didn’t seem to help their moods at this time, was all that rain, pouring down outside.

About a half hour later, while they, still, were on the road, it, suddenly, hit her mother, why in the world, were on their way to the airport, when where they, really, wanted to go was to some islands.

So, then, her mother pulled up at the nearest travel agency, and upon walking inside the agency, it, suddenly, stopped raining to their relief, and the sun, now, was shining very brightly, almost, blinding them.

While at the travel agency, her mother and her walked up to the desk, where a man with a tall building and curly brown hair, said to them, “May I help you? I’d like to be of service to you two.”

So, her mother replied, “What we are looking for is information on some cruises, which will take us right to the islands.”

He replied, “Do you have any certain place in mind at this time?”

“Not, really, however I think that a cruise to Palm Islands would turn out to be a real nice trip to us. By the way, is this the type of cruise, on which is like a ferry, because we have been traveling, so far, to this far north for about a half hour, now. And we need to take a trailer with us on the cruise. So, would the Palm Islands cruise be an appropriate cruise to consider for this type of trip?”

“Yes, in fact, it would, lady. Right here,” as he fumbled through some papers underneath the counter, jus happened to have included the Palms Island cruise, also, listing the times when the ferry runs over there.

So, as he handed the papers over to her, he happened to say to her, “Well, lady that would jus be the perfect place for a getaway. And somewhere on the islands, if you happen to consider, sometime, maybe even now, having a boathouse business, Tree Island happens to be the perfect place to which to take a your trip. And the place, where you and your daughter can catch a ferry, is, only, about fifteen minutes away. So, you two will arrive, there, if you don’t have to stop anywhere on the way, jus in time for the next ferry.”

“Thank you, sir,” replied Sophia’s mother, “it’s been a pleasure talking to you, and I’m sure that Palms Islands will turn out to be jus the dream place for the two of us.”

So, then, the guy replied, “Well, I can say, that it’s been my pleasure to serve you two as customers.”

And then, as Sophia and her mother walked out of the agency, and then, hopped back into the trailer, Sophia’s eyes started to tear, again. However, she tried her best to get her dad out of her mind; at least, he has turned out to be one of three dads for her.

Upon the trailer pulling up near where they are to catch the ferry for the islands, by that time, in now, having the trip on her mind, Sophia seemed to be okay. At least, none of her fathers seemed to be occupying her mind at this time, because all that was going through her head, was some dreaming on what she thought, the trip to the islands, was going to be like for her and her mom.

After the trailer was anchored on the ferry, before Sophia and mother realized, exactly, where they were at, because all this time, it has been like one big dream to them, they were on their way over to the islands on what has turned out to be one mild and bright sunny day in the beginning of the summer.

During the cruise, partly, to kill time, Sophia sunk into her daydream, again. And while absorbed in her dreaming, before her, she, actually, saw herself on Tree Island. And some good-looking guy, whom she met on the island in her dream, actually, was very handsome-looking with a good build.

And the two, actually, were dancing away while the sun was beating down on them on one very warm and pleasant day. Then, in the same dream, she saw herself, being surrounded by some more handsome guys, three of them, older than her, getting drunk on some beers.

Jus as she and her mother noticed the ferry has, already, reached the end of Tree Island, neither Sophia nor her mother could believe their eyes. The island, itself, seemed to be full of white sand and never ending. And jus where the two were wading onto the island, some guy from ferry, was nice enough to park the trailer onto the island.

And then, her mother and Sophia turned so wide-eyed, as they jus happened to see amongst all that sand, some mountain, which seemed to be standing on its own. Also, there was this cement trail, which seemed to curve right up to the most beautiful castle-like house, which they’ve even seen in their lives.

So, as they reached over to where this mountain was at, her mother didn’t know if they were caught in a dream or what. However, the two got this sudden urge inside them, as if the two of them have been to this island before in another life.

Sophia and her mother were, actually, seeing themselves, surrounded by a bunch of guys, dressed like they were from Hawaii. And every one of them seemed to look alike in one way or another. All of the guys were wearing shirts, bright colored shirts, either blue with white flowers on them, or some even are red with a green flower design on them.

Suddenly, all of these guys in their dream were jumping up and down for joy, as soon as their eyes met with Sophia’s and her mother’s eyes. And all these guys have seemed to come from nowhere, suddenly, appearing before their very eyes. Another thing was neither Sophia nor mother could believe how tan all of these guys were, and how friendly every one of them, were being to them.

As they both, suddenly, pulled out of their dream –like state, they didn’t realize it at first. However, another guy dressed in this white jumpsuit, and snakeskin boots, which outfit, really, seemed to stand out, has a very friendly manner about him.

Both Sophia and her mother were stunned like this guy was bewitching Sophia in some fantasy world, from which she jus seemed to be caught in. And while she and this guy were getting acquainted, the two of them couldn’t seem to find any words to speak to each other.

In the meantime, her mother felt, as though, she was caught in a different world, where she thought, she has met her third husband, the one from whom she’s separated, right there, at the island. And then, in her mind, she jus couldn’t remember having been on this island before.

However, she jus happened to come across some boathouse, and dreamed of owning one, herself, when she never has considered having such a business before in her life. Anyways, she could picture herself, with much gay, going through this boathouse, and eagerly, trying to fix every nook and cranny, she came across in that place.

So, while her daughter, Sophia, and this guy, whom she jus met on the Tree Island, were, still, seemingly, trying to get to know each other, her mother was having this urge to check out this boathouse. And then, seeing if anyone was running this place, because for no reason at all, she jus seemed to be flabbergasted by this very old and ancient blue boathouse, which she has happened to come across.

Jus as she was entering this boathouse, she happened to come across the office, and to her surprise, no one seemed to be running this place. So, she thought, maybe, the owner of the place could be in some other part of this boathouse. However, upon checking out each and every room, and noticing that the place was about ready for reconstruction, she, still, has this urge inside to fix up the place.

As she jus happened to reach the floor, where there were a few cots, situated in the room, it came to her, that it was possible, she could have bumped into her third husband, here. However, then, she jus dismissed this from her mind, and then, hopped over to where the mountain was nearby.

Upon reaching the mountain, she remembered in another life before this one, meeting her third husband, here, of all places. Then, in that life, before her eyes, she was seeing herself, running up the cement trail, which led up to the white castle-like house.

Since, she has this urge to check this place out, she, then, actually, found herself, half-running up, which seemed to be a never-ending trail. And upon reaching the top of the trail, where the house stood, she wanted to check out this house, to see what it looked like inside.

Jus before walking inside this white house, she seemed to have a good view of part of the island, so, upon her, looking over to where her daughter, Sophia, and this guy were standing, she jus happened to see the two, get into this rugged-looking boat, which looked like a shape of a pirate ship.

Before her mother realized, what the two were up to, the two were hopping into the boat, as Sophia was holding up her pure white dress, which she happened to have been wearing, since, this morning. And then, the two, the young boy and Sophia were off into the water, going for a boat ride. So, her mother couldn’t believe what she was seeing, and at first, thought she was dreaming, but she wasn’t this time.

So, then, her mother gave into this urge to check out the white house. And as she was entering this place, she couldn’t get over how elegant the house, appeared to be inside. There were the most expensive furnishings in this place, which she has ever seen before.

All of the furniture in the living room area, as she entered from the foyer, which has this gigantic light fixture on a red ceiling, seemed to be of such a bright white color. And all the furniture in this area, seemed to all be of a Victorian flavor, and so gorgeious-looking along with this huge white chandelier in the middle of the huge living room.

The dining room which connected onto the living room, against red walls of the brightest color, there was this which seemed to be quite expensive, was this long wooden table with many chairs around it. And in one corner, she noticed this old-looking organ, which happened to be full of cobwebs.

And of the bedrooms, one was furnished with this huge waterbed with oak around it, apparently, a master bedroom. And the other two bedrooms on the first floor, also, have huge waterbeds of the same furnishings.

The one bathroom has a beautiful stone shower with this gray statue in the middle of it being open, no curtain.

After she was through looking around at the white castle-like house, as she walked out of the house, she felt, as though, she’s enchanted from checking out this house. And inside of her, something told her, that, some day, she jus might live in this house.

As she became overcome by this feeling, then, she jus collapsed to the ground, not unconscious or anything. She jus, still, was so enchanted, that she jus seemed to lie there on the ground, feeling so comfortable, she didn’t even want to get up.

So, as she seemed to drift off into this enchanted sleep, as though, she were Cinderella, all over, again, it’s jus that the air around seemed to be encasing her jus like some white cloud. And she couldn’t get herself out of this cloud, at least, right now.

And then, this cloud became so thick, that, suddenly, she found herself, sitting on this cloud. However, inside of her, she has no fear of falling off this cloud, because it seemed to be so steady right in front of the white house at this time. And then, it seemed like she’s so in control of her world, that she jus seemed to slip into another life.

This life was even a happier life, than the one she’s encased in, at this time. And before her, she saw herself, actually, in bed with her third husband, and the two were having the time of their lives. It wasn’t that they, actually, were making love, however, she saw herself in his arms. And while she’s in his arms, he’s holding her, so tenderly, that before her, she could see Sophia as a baby, again.

This, really, was a weird world, which she was being encased in, and while there, she, actually, was living in this white house along with her daughter, Sophia, as a baby.

Then, this vision seemed to fade away, and then, Sophia seemed to blossom into a teenager. And here she was, looking over the mountain, as if she was living in this white house at another time with her third husband, and also, Sophia was a few years older, which seemed uncanny to her, be cause her daughter was, still, at the tender age of ten, she thought.

However, as she came out of this dream, she found herself, getting up off the ground with not even a speck of dirt on her clothes or her skin even. All dirt seemed to have been wiped clean from her skin and clothes. And her clothes seemed to be sparkling in the sun, as she looked down on the island.

As she was staring down at althea white sand near the shore, she happened to notice Sophia, getting off this pirate, which she has taken a trip on with this gentleman. And this gentleman seemed to be a few years older than her, too.

And through her mother, all this happiness was sailing through her, every part of her being. And all of a sudden, inside her, she has this wanting for this gentleman to be the perfect groom for her daughter. And this was her wish for her daughter from now on, until her, actually, saw the two, getting married before her very eyes. Now, it turned into a will for her daughter, Sophia, to marry this gentleman, whom she jus got off the boat with.

Then, in being anxious to meet this guy, and to tell her daughter, what she, really, thought of her, being with this fellow, she proceeded, with elegance, down the ever-curving cement trail, which she didn’t seem to have any problem, getting down to the very end of it near the white sand.

It was, as though, this wind, which seemed to come from nowhere, was helping her down this ever-winding trail. And normally, this trail would have been so tasking for her, to walk down, however, something, a figure in white, maybe an angel, seemed to, actually, be carrying her down this trail.

Upon her, reaching the end of this trail, she, actually, found her daughter, dancing with this guy, whom she had gone on a boat ride with. And as her mother approached the two, both the guy and her daughter seemed to have stars in their eyes.

And all these stars, she was seeing, that’s her mother, seemed to come out of their eyes, and then, be dancing around in circles in front of the two. This, definitely, was a sign to her mother, that those two were right for each other. And every time, her mother happened to spot the two, together, they seemed to be surrounded by a world of happiness.

This world encasing this guy and her daughter, also, was a sign, that the two were falling in love wit each other at first sight. And her mother was very happy for her daughter, because she felt, her daughter, finally, has found the right man for her, although, he was a few years older than her.

Upon her mother walking up to her daughter, Sophia, and this guy of hers, Sophia introduced her mother to this guy, “Mom, this is my new boyfriend, and he, really, seems to like me a lot, and so, do I like him a lot. By the way, his name is: Jewels and you may think, this is a strange name for him, however, he, really, is the prince of the island. And that is how he deserved such a name as this.”

Very surprised at how handsome and nice and what a gentleman, this guy was to her daughter, her mother said with much surprise, “Hello, Jewels, my name is Michele, and I jus happen to be Sophia’s mother. So, I, really, think, that you two shouldn’t waste any more time in getting acquainted.”

“Why is this, mother? I seem like I, barely, know him, however, I, also, am feeling, all of a sudden, like I’ve known him, all my life from another life. So, I guess this does mean a lot to me, and that I should be able to have a grand relationship with Jewels, which has been happening, ever since, the very day on which, we have met.”

“I’ll tell you, one thing, my dear Sophia. I, really, think you two should get married, because ever since, that first day, on which I arrived on Tree Island with Sophia, you two, really, have been making it together.”

“I know that it seems longer than this, however, Jewels and I,” replied Sophia, “actually, have known each other for a couple of months, now. And those couple of months has been flying by, so fast.”

Four months later: Sophia’s mother has been trying to run a business, here, on the island at the boathouse, not far from the mountain. And every day, it seems, she’s been very busy, trying to fix every nook and cranny of that place.

One day, while she jus happened to be tidying the place, as she was walking out of the boathouse, she has a real surprise by three visitors, whom she, instantly, recognized as being her three husbands. And as they all are approaching her, the cat seemed to have her tongue at first, however, she couldn’t understand jus how they all happened to find her and her daughter, here, on this island, as they all jus got off their boat.

She, then, spent a while in the white house on the mountain, jus lying on the master bed in the master bedroom, trying to get her thoughts, together. And since, these three guys, her three husbands, showed up at a trying time in her life, jus because she hasn’t been able to face any of them, since, they have come ashore, one time, as she jus happened to be going through her boathouse, she’s very shocked to see all of her three husbands, making home inside the boathouse.

Not knowing what else to do, although, all three husbands were trying to get her to understand, that they all came back for the good of her daughter, she, then, said to every one of them, as they all happened to be trying to get settled inside the boathouse.

“Now, how in the world, did all of you, happen to find me and my daughter, on this island? I never left an address or phone number to any of you, at the times, when I had left each of you. I thought I had made it clear, when I jus didn’t want to see any of you, anymore.”

So, all of the guys seemed to say to her, at once, “Now, my dear lady.” Then, since, Al had turned out to be the last husband, whom she had left when she was pregnant with Sophia, he said to her in a frantic voice, trying to get through to her.

“Now, my dear, I’m not the one, whom left you. It happened that you were the one, whom left me jus when you were carrying Sophia. And at that time, I, also, warned you, about leaving me in such a trying time for us, when you happened to be pregnant with our child at that time.”

“Every one of you, I want all three of your guys to get away from this boathouse. This is not a free-for-all, you know. And because I happened to be the one, whom took over this boathouse for a business, none of you can stay, here, for free. And if that is what you all want, then, jus go, and never come back to this island, ever again. I know for a fact, that not even Sophia wants to see the whereabouts of any of you, ever again.”
Jus before getting ready to run away from the boathouse, and make ship, Al said to her, “Now, realized what you’re doing to your daughter at such a tender age, isn’t in the least, doing a bit of good for her. She has been brought up, until now, without a father, and she won’t be able to tolerate it, anymore.”

So, then, Sophia’s mother said to him, “Now, all of you, please leave, before Sophia sees any of you, and then, I know she won’t be able to stand any of you in her life. The reason, I left you all, especially, you Al, was because you didn’t have a desire to have Sophia as your child. Now, all of you, be gone, and don’t come back ever again to this boathouse.”

After all of her husbands boarded their ship, and she was sure they all were on their way, then, Sophia’s mother said to her, “I don’t know, now, if it’s, really, a good idea to marry you and your guy off, because the way I’m feeling, is that I’m feeling too broken up inside for you, my dear, to leave me, as my only daughter.”

“But mother,” replied Sophia, with tears in your eyes, “I’ve fallen in love with Jewels, and feel like we too can’t seem to live without each other. So, it, originally, was your wish for us to get married, so, I’ve taken a lot of my time to get to know him. And I think he’s the one for me, mother.”

“However, my dear, I this desire inside me, right now, for you and him and me to live in that white house on the top of the mountain on this island. In fact, I’ve have had a dream, lately, about the three of us, living together in that house as a family.”

Sophia’s mother has no idea, which of her three husbands, which have decided to take a boat trip back to the island, is Sophia’s father.

And without her mother even knowing about this, Sophia was the one, in the first place, whom, really, wanted all three of her mom’s past husbands at her wedding, jus because she has this desire inside, to find out one way or another, which one, really, is her father.

And she hasn’t even told her mom, yet, being she wanted it to be a big surprise to her mom, that all of them are going to be at her daughter’s wedding. Also, she, really, wanted all three of her mom’s husbands to show up for her wedding. Yet, her daughter, at this time, has become very determined to find out, which one is, actually, her real father.

To her mother, it seems, that this one guy, Jewels, which her mom, really, wanted her daughter to marry, wanted her to do so, jus because she felt, that the reason, this guy has come to the island, is to find true love for himself.

WHAT WE DON'T KNOW ABOUT OBAMA

WHAT WE DON'T KNOW ABOUT OBAMA
We know a lot more about Barack Obama than we did on Election Day. He wastes little time making big decisions. He was serious about surrounding himself with seasoned people, even if they are outsized personalities likely to jostle one another and unlikely to salute on command. He tends to move quickly to put his personal stamp on government and naitonal life.
Yet much about how the 44th president will govern remains a mystery—perhaps even to Obama himself.
The stirring rhetoric witnessed on the campain trail and in Tuesday's inaugural address is laced with spacious language—flexible enough to support conflicting conclusions about what he really believes. Only decisions, not words, can clarify for what Obama stands for. Those are coming soon enough.
Until then, here are the questions still left hanging as the Obama administration begins:
DOES HE REALLY THINK AFGNANISTAN IS WINNABLE?
The new president has strongly signaled that he thinks the answer is yes. But neither his rhetoric nor his policy proposals so far have fully reckoned with the implications.
If he intends to win in Afganistan, he is not going to be a Peacemaker President. To the contrary, he is committing himself to being just as much of a War President as George W. Bush, certainly for the first term and very possibly for a potential second.
Most military experts think a decisive win in Afganistan—as opposed to a muddle-through strategy leading to a gradual withdrawal—will involve a major surge in troops and a willingness to tolerate high costs and high casualties.
In any event, the country and its unruly neighbor, Pakistan, will quite likely dominate Obama's attention much more than Iraq.
Obama advisors say one of the biggest surprises of recent secret briefings on trouble spots around the globe was how unstable, exposed and dangerous Pakistan is. A nuclear neighbor that harbors terrorists injects all the more danger and uncertainty to the war on the other side of its border.
Joe Biden's first trip abroad as vice-President elected included a stop in Afganistan. When they returned home, he told Obama, “The truth is that things are going to get tougher in Afganistan before they're going to get better.”
If that's true, Obama may in the end find muddle-through more attractive than victory.
DO DEFICITS MATTER?
In the short-run, Obama and his advisors believe, just like Bush and his advisors, that pumping up the economy is the top priority—budget deficits to be damned.
But when does the short-run become the long-run?
Obama has said long-term, trillion dollar deficits are “unstainable.” He inaugural address warned about the need to cut programs that don't work and make “hard choices.”
Does he really mean it? If so, the second half of Obama's first term likely will be marked by austerity just as much as the first half is going to be marked by massive spending in the name of economic stimulus.
Embracing balanced budgets would also mean embracing steep cuts in weapons systems and entitlement programs, as well as curbing his ambitions for new initiatives in health care and energy. Tax hikes would also be part of the remedy.
With unpleasant medicine like this, Obama may instead find common cause with Democratic liberals and with Dick Cheney, who, according to Treasury Secretary Paul O'Neill, once dismissed GOP deficit hawks by saying that Ronald Reagan proved that deficits don't matter.
HOW FAST IS TOO FAST IN IRAQ?
The president says he still wants U.S. Troops out of Iraq in 16 months. Tellingly, he always adds caveats that conditions and advice from commanders will dictate the pace. Defense Secretary Gates recently made this clear: “He also said he wanted to have a responsible drawdown. And he also said he was prepared to listen to his commanders. So, I think that that's exactly the position the president-elect should be at.”
What if conditions change for the worse? Violence is way down and many of the most troubled areas are showing signs of stability. But this remains an extremely volatile region that could erupt in new bloodshed. Will Obama still cling to a speedy pull-out if it means the country could implode?
Obama met with his military commanders on Wednesday. But it's anyone's guess whose advice he'll be listening to most closely, and which members of his heavyweight foreign policy term—within which there are significant disagreements over the Iraq War—will really have his ear.
WHAT'S IN THE FILES?
Any time someone criticized their policies on use of force, covert surveillance, or detention or interrogation of terrorism suspects, Bush and Cheney had an answer that was impossible for any outside critic to fully contend with: You don't know what we know.
What they said they knew was top-secret intelligence showing how many people with murderous designs on the United States are roaming the planet, how imment the threats are, or how effective controversial anti-terrorist programs have been in averting another attack. Since no one else could see the files, no one else could be on equal footing in deciding whether the administration was right or wrong.
Since Tuesday, Obama has all the same files, and all the same access to the nation's top secrets, that Bush and Cheney ever did.
How will Obama react when he gets a constant morning diet of dire warnings? The president seems intent on shutting down the prison camp in Guantanamo Bay and ending torture—and has surrounded
himself with critics of both who are unlikely to tolerate backsliding. But it is not unfathomable that Obama has a “Few Good Men” moment and has to tell liberals and civil libertarians they can't handle the truth—and that drastic steps sometimes need to be taken to avert disastrous consequences. What's more, it is hardly a given that any president—no matter his philosophy—would wish to give the expanded executive power that Bush claimed in the name of national secuirty.
DO UNIONS WEAR WHITE HATS?
Obama, for the entire campaign, said all the right things when it comes to keeping peace with Big Labor. He praised the power and fairness of unions. He expressed skepticism about free trade agreements like NAFTA. Most of all, he proudly sponsored legislation to make it much easier for workers to unionize. Lately, he sounds like a man rethinking his enthusiam.
In a recent interview with the Washington Post, he suggested he would not aggressively push for legislation to free workers to easily unionize (the bill is known as the Employee Free Choice Act. “If we are losing a half a million jobs a month, then there are no jobs to unionize.” Even Nancy Pelosi seems inclined to cut him some slack for a while on this one—but at some point the pressure will intensify and we will learn if this is truly a pro-union White House.
CAN U.S. POWER SAVE DARFUR?
Darfur will be the first test case—But almost certainly not the last one-in which we will learn just how strongly Obama believes his stated view that the United States should act aggressively when it can use its military power to stop genocide or other humanitarian catasprohes.
This is powerful momentum inside the Democratic Party to come to the aid of the suffering people of Darfur. Among the biggest advocates are two of Obama's top advisers, Biden and U.N. Ambassador-designate Susan Rice.
But with the military stretched thin, and with many others in his administration more skeptical about the use of force on problems that don't directly threaten national security, nothing is likely to happen unless Obama puts his own influence and reputation strongly behind an intervention.
During the campaign, he signaled a willingness to intervene, but also cautioned: “There's a lot of cruelty around the world. We're not going to be able to be everywhere all the time.”
HOW MUCH DOES HE HAVE TO PLACATE TO THE LEFT?
In his inaugural speech, Obama spoke of tired ideologies and a time to think anew about policy and politics. That is easy to do if he simply means rejecting Bush's idea. But he has suggested this rethinking with hit the left, too—that's trickier.
Some times, Obama has been willing to tick off to the left. He picked Rick Warren, a Christian Conservative, to deliver Tuesday's opening prayer and filled his cabinet and staff mainly with centrists. Other times, he seems to bend to liberal frustration.
Obama nixed John Bernnan's appointment to be CIA director after anti-torture advocates expressed outrage over Brennen's involvement in Bush-era interrogations. Brennan's going to be working in the White House anyway, but not in any position that requires Senate confirmation. Obama also quickly moved to give a prime role to Episcopal Bishop Gene Robinson, an openly gay religious leader from New Hampshire, when liberals protested the choice of Warren to deliver the inaugural prayer.
Politically savvy liberal activists are an important reason Obama beat Hilary Rodham Clinton in the Democratic nominating contest, and a big reason he blew through all fund-raising funds. It will be hard for Obama to govern without their enthusiasm, on the other hand, it will be tough to reinvent politics if Obama is forced to routinely throw bouquet s to the various factions of the Democratic Party.

CROOKED HEARTS- CHAPTER I BY CHERYL V.

CROOKED HEARTS-CHAPTER I
INTRODUCTION:
Jus what came by without a matter of choice, the predicament into which Dave jus happened to have gotten himself into, is in having gotten Maria, his wife, pregnant, before the two were even married. By the way, then, because Maria chose not to take any more birth control pills, jus because she couldn’t trust herself to keep up with taking them, Dave ended up having four babies with her.
Maria jus happened to have started with getting pregnant with her son, Charlie. When Jeanette jus happened to find out, Maria was pregnant with her first child, whom she nicknamed Charlie, at that time, she and Dave, in a way, were ridiculed by a friend of his.
So, then, in that way, Maria and Dave were hassled into getting married by one of his friends, Mike, a minister, jus because he wanted them to have their children, assured of being brought in family life.
The predicament for the kids, certainly, would have ended up being bad for their lives, if he didn’t make an effort to get married, without fail, as soon as he found out; she was pregnant with her first child.
However, then, at the same time, during that stage in their relationship, their love for each other, was, still, being questioned to a point. That this could have broke the two up, anyways, even if they didn’t get married, right away.
Then, chances would have been, if the two waited too long to get married. Then, what love, the two were having for each other at that time, could have, actually, have left love without any solid base, on which to build their relationship enough.
So, that kind of love could have caused their relationship to fail to the point. That then, what love,, the two were having for each other at that time, could have started going downhill, and, therefore, ruin whatever chances, they had for having a family of their own, and at the same time, having been able to stay together as a family for life.
What could have happened to Dave and Maria could have been that every one in the family, all three sons and a daughter, could have ended up in all being born out of wedlock. Then, this could have placed such a strain on their relationship that the two, then, could have broken all ties with each other, which in the end could have caused their relationship to go down the drain.
In every one of the kids, having been born out of wedlock, could have caused every one of the sons, including the daughter, to be brought up without a father, thus breaking up the main family relationships.
And if every one of the kids were to be brought up, only, by Maria, it could become very difficult for her to even be able to keep any of the family, together.
Then, she might have gone to all extreme, to giving up most or all of her children for adoption, jus because she wouldn’t have been able to bring up four kids on her own without her husband’s help, in him, in having gotten into his role as a father to all of the kids.
CHAPTER I
Although, Dave’s, still, somewhat, in love with Jeanette, one of his three sons, in a family of three boys and a girl, seemed to be involved in a in a fantasy over her. This happened to Tom, jus because he happened to overhear Maria, one time, reading one of Dave’s love letters to Jeanette, which he, actually, wrote to himself about her.
Although, he has been, really, buried, in what he thinks could be true love for his wife, Maria.
However, in having had three sons and a daughter, now, from the ages of eight to fourteen, he, still, seemed to be confused over who he, really, is in love with. Was it Jeanette or Maria, whom he’s, really, in love with? Or was he in love with both of them, and doesn’t realize, that he is?
However, he must, at least, be in love with one of them, because of all the love letters, he’s written over Jeanette, and there could be some notes, hidden in the bedroom, which he has written to Maria, which she hasn’t come across, yet.
One night, while Dave and Maria were jus trying to have some privacy in their bedroom, little did either know, that one of their sons, Tom, at the tender age of eight, jus happened to be standing at their bedroom door.
And of course, being that both of his parents needed their privacy, from time to time, it was a necessity, that they have their door closed.
Tom, surely, knew jus by using his sense, that both of his parents have a right to be able to be by them, sometimes, jus to get away from the rigor, it takes to bring up a family of four.
However, anyways, he jus figured he wanted to be one big shot, and eavesdrop on his parents, that night. And at the time, they jus happened to be having a secret conversation amongst themselves in their bedroom.
As Tom jus stood, there, by the door, hoping that neither one of them would surprise him by opening up the bedroom, while he was at the door. So, in the meantime, thinking that no one, not even Tom, was trying to invade their privacy, Maria jus happened to say to Dave.
“I’ve been keeping this, a secret, for what has seemed some time, since, we’ve gotten married. So, I need to tell you something, and this is that, before while you were looking after the kids, lately, it jus occurred, by chance, that I happened to be looking for something, I needed at the time.”
“Then, what happened next, my dear?”
“I just happened to be looking through the closet in the hall, when I came across something, right there, in the closet. Then, I pushed some of my clothes over, and then, noticed that there was a safe, almost, hidden in that part of the closet. So, then, in knowing the number to the safe, I sensed in my mind, that maybe you have had something in the safe besides money.”
“What are you trying to tell me; that I shouldn’t have had that safe, there, to begin with?”
“No, that’s not what I’m getting at; I didn’t even go into your safe. And then, not finding what I was looking for, I, then, looked through all the dresser drawers. And upon doing so, I jus happened to come across what looked like a book.”
“You shouldn’t have given into the urge to look through my dresser drawers, in the first place, at that time.”
“I was curious to look inside it, so, then, I opened it up, and on the cover of the book, I happened to find the combination to the safe. So, then, I went back to the closet, and opened up the safe. And I was surprised to find a bunch of letters addressed to Jeanette, and some with her signature on them.”
“What did you find out about her?”
“”No, I didn’t, actually, read any of your love letters. I wouldn’t do such a thing as to open any of them up. But being I came across one of them, opened up, I did read that one, and I, then, found out that you have a former love, Jeanette, which you said in the letter, that she was your pal, and that you miss her a lot.”
“Don’t get me wrong, here; I’m not in love with her, anymore. I’m sure of this, because why would I go on and do things for you, like as to have more babies after Charlie was born?”
After a brief pause, trying to regain his composure, he said to her, “Wait a minute, I believe you, my darling, and trust that you won’t read any of these other love letters, or even tell any one else in the family about any of them, either.”
Then, he jus happened to hear someone near the door. So, he, carefully, walked over to the door, very stealthily. As he neared the door, he opened it, abruptly, to Tom’s surprise, and then, for a moment, the two jus stood at the door, jus staring at each other.
So, then, Maria said to Dave, “Is something wrong, Dave? How come you’re jus standing, there, at the door, like the world is ready to cave in?”
“You won’t believe who has been eavesdropping on us, my dear? Tom is here at the door, and he’s so shocked at seeing me, here, that he can’t seem to move. It’s like I’ve placed him in a state of shock. Well, I am shocked about you, Tom.”
Since, he wouldn’t give him, a valid answer, his dad said to him, “How do you dare stand, here, and try to invade both my and mom’s privacy. What’s the matter with you, now? I thought I brought up you boys to understand, that sometimes, Maria and I need to be alone. And you don’t seem to care if we have our privacy or not. Now, why did you do this to us?”
However, he was so shocked at seeing him at the door, that he couldn’t even get one word out to him.
“What’s the matter, Tom, has the cat got your tongue, now?”
He, still, wouldn’t speak to his dad, so, then, his dad said, “What did you hear us, talking about, here? Did you happen to hear anything; we were talking about, jus now? Please be speedy about it, because I’m ready to slap you right across your face.”
“Well, I happened to overhear that mom has been reading some of your love letters. And that some of them were opened, that she has read. That is all I heard, and I don’t even know where you have been keeping all those letters, either. And even if I knew where they were, I wouldn’t be dumb enough to get myself in trouble through reading any of them.”
“I jus hope that you are telling me, the truth, because your mom can hear every word, you are saying at this time to me.”
“Yes, I am telling you, the truth, dad. I swear about it, too.”
“Okay, get away from this bedroom door, right now. Because if you continue to stand, here, then, I’m going to take you aside, and make you, regret you ever tried to eavesdrop on us, in the first place.”
So, then, Tom jus hurriedly ran away from the door, and he ran right into his bedroom and shut his door behind him.
Then, upon hearing the door slam, Charlie happened to be doing something, that needed to be done at the time, like some school work, which he hated to do. And he was thinking about quitting, because he hated school, especially, the girls, which were in his classes.
Charlie, then, walked right into Tom’s room, without even knocking on his door, being his door was open at this time, being that Tom, himself, has opened his door, because he heard Charlie, mumbling to himself outside the door.
As Charlie walked over to Tom’s bed, Tom had this shocked look on his face, yet. So, Charlie felt obligated to ask him, what the matter was.
He said to Tom in a surprised voice, “What’s the matter with you, tonight, Tom? Did dad say something to you, which upset you in some way?”
“Yes, he has, Charlie, and he got after me through having overheard his and mom’s conversation, tonight, while they have been in their bedroom. And he accused me of invading his privacy. So, I don’t know what he’s planning to do next to me, now. He jus might come into my bedroom, tonight, and do jus like he said he was doing to do, slap me right in the face.”
“Now, Tom, neither dad nor mom ever would do anything like that to any of us, especially, to your sister, Mary Ann.”
“Of course, he wouldn’t do this to Mary Ann. Because if he ever tried it, mom would, surely, get mad at him for doing such a thing, being jus because she’s a girl. She never would approve of him, doing such a thing as this to a girl at any time, no matter, if the girl was part of the family, or even one of our friends.”
“Why, Tom, do you happen to have a lady friend, which I don’t know about?”
“If I do, it’s none of your business, because she’s a lot different from me as far as age goes.”
“You don’t happen to be in love, are you?”
“No, I wouldn’t, exactly, call it love, now. I, barely, know the girl, but she’s a waitress over at that restaurant, that the whole family, usually, goes to, now. But I’m jus in a fantasy world with her, and every night, it seems, that she’s in one of my dreams. And I, really, have taken a liking to her, because she’s a very nice girl.”
“How come you won’t tell me, her name, now? Are you afraid that mom or dad is going to find out about this?”
“Yes, I am, Charlie, now please get out of my room. I want to be by myself for now, and try to figure out the situation, I’ve gotten myself into, all by myself. I know that dad’s mad at me, and I think that mom might be mad at me, too, for invading their privacy, tonight.”
So, without saying another word to Tom, Charlie, then, quietly, left Tom’s room. And he even shut his for him, so, that he would be able to take some action, in case, either mom or dad reprimanded him for what he had caused, tonight.
Being that Tom had invaded their privacy, tonight, both of his parents’ jus seemed to avoid him the rest of the night.
And Tom was surprised, that neither of them even entered his room, that night, unless one of them have sneaked into his bedroom when he happened to be sleeping.
The next morning, after Tom jus happened to have a bad dream, and then, awakened early that morning, he, then, sneaked into Charlie’s room. And he jus happened to be sleeping, but he must have been sleeping lightly at the time, because as soon as Tom walked inside his room, he jus happened to open his eyes.
And then, Tom jus stood, there, by his bed for a minute, while Charlie was taking a big stretch. However, upon seeing on his clock, that it’s, only, seven o’clock in the morning, then, Charlie said to him in a nice tone of voice.
“What brings you, here, into my room at seven o’clock in the morning? Is something wrong, Tom, dad didn’t happen to scold you, again, do he, by chance?’
“No, Charlie, dad didn’t scold me for anything. I think that he and mom are, still, sleeping, yet, because I jus came from the kitchen, and neither of them is up getting breakfast, yet. Neither are any of them in the bathroom, either, because the door is open at this time.”
“What is it, then, Tom is there something on your mind at this time, that seemed to make you wake up early? You didn’t, by chance, have a bad dream, did you, my boy?”
“Yes, that’s, exactly, what woke me up, this morning.”
“Well, can you, tell me what the dream was about then.’
“Yes, Charlie, you might think that it’s silly, but I dreamt that I was in bed with Jeanette, the waitress over at the restaurant. And the thing is that I don’t even love here, either. And then, in the dream, when she got in bed with me, she happened to turn into a monster, and then, I happened to fall out of the bed, and, almost, hurt myself. It, really, scared me out of my sleep, Charlie.”
“Well, do you like this waitress, Tom? Do you think of her as being pretty and beautiful?”
“In a way, I do, because every time, we happen to go to eat over there at the restaurant, I tend to want to sneak over to her. And, sometimes, she even smiles back at me, but never has she said anything to me, yet. So, I don’t know if she likes me; she, probably, thinks that I’m, definitely, too young for her.”
“Don’t worry, Tom, I won’t say anything to either mom or dad about this, now. You can trust me on this, now. I have found out one thing about dad, though, and this is that he’s been in this fantasy world with her. And I think that he may, still, love her, yet, because I’ve found out from dad, that Jeanette was his former love jus before he happened to meet mom.”
“Is that right, Charlie? Well, I, really, like her, and want to keep seeing her. And maybe one of these times, she’ll start talking to me.”
“Whatever you do, don’t say anything about her in front of dad; because he might jus get mad at you, and then, stop taking us over to that restaurant in Los Angeles.”
So, being that in, still, being in love with Jeanette in a way, Tom’s father, Dave, and his wife, Maria, frequently, paid a visit to that same restaurant in the city.
And every time, the family went there to eat dinner, somehow, it seemed that Tom happened to start mooning over Jeanette, himself, although, he was kind of young for her. And it didn’t seem to bother her that she could tell, that he was mooning over her.
The next time, the family went over to that restaurant to eat in the heart of Los Angeles, the family jus sat down when Tom said to the whole family.
“I don’t know what to order for breakfast, today. So, if any of you can get Jeanette to wait on us for our orders, then, jus tell her, that I want my breakfast, the original way, bacon, eggs, sausage, and of course, some ice tea.”
Jeanette happened to wait on them, that morning, and when she walked over to the table, she took all of their orders. However, Tom wasn’t there at the table at the time, so, then, she’s sensing, she’s having a feeling, that he has a liking for her in some way.

OBAMA CAPS HISTORIC DAY 10 INAUGURAL BALLS

OBAMA CAPS HISTORY DAY 10 INAUGURAL BALLS
BY LISA TOLIN, ASSOCIATED PRESS WRITER
WASHINGTON—President Barack Obama and his wife Michelle capped their historic with a speedy tour through 10 inaugural balls before retiring, at last, for their first night in the White House.
The Etta James classic “At Last” was the Obamas' song of the evening, crooned by Beyonce at the Neighborhood Ball, the first of 10 inaugural celebrations they attended into the early hours of Wednesday.
The president wore white tie, while Michelle shimmed in a white, on-shouldered, one-length gown. It was embellished from top to bottom with white floral details and made by 26-year old New York designer Jason Wu.
“First of all, how good looking is my wife?” Obama asked the crowd of celebrities and supporters.
The president pulled his wife close for a slow, dignified two-step to the song that marked the end of a long day or formal inaugural events and the two-year campaign that put them in the White House.
Obama cut loose in a faster groove a few minutes later, as Shakira, Mary J. Blige, Faith Hill and Mariah Carey sang along with Stevie Wonder to his, “Signed, Sealed, Delivered.” The song was played at nearly all of Obama's rallies throughout the campaign.
“You could tell that's a black president from the way he was moving,” comedian Jamie Foxx joked following the dance.
At most of the balls that followed, the Obamas spent a little more than the length of the song greeting supporters and whirling for the crowd. But the two seemed to share intimate moments nonetheless, smiling and laughing as Michelle pulled her dress out of the way.
Director Ron Howard said he sympathized with the long day Obama was having.
“I feel bad for him,” Howard said in an interview with the Associated Press at the Western Ball. “He's had a long day and now he has to do seven dances. This has got to be the grueling part for the first family.”
Obama and Vice President Joe Biden each saluted the nation's military men and women at the Commander in Chief Ball via satellite. Biden said he wasn't looking forward to his moment on the dance floor—a familiar refrain throughout the night.
“The thing that frightens me the most (is) I'm going to have to stand in that circle and dance in a minute.” At that, he laughed and did a quick sign of the cross.
The Obamas were more enthusiastic, splitting up to dance with Marine Sgt. Ellidio Guillen of Madera, Calif.---who was shorter than dance partner Michelle---and Army Sgt. Margaret H. Herrera of San Antonio, Texas, who cried in the president's arms.
Despite the formal attire and celebrity entertainment, the balls weren't overly fancy affairs. Lines were long to get in, and the food was heavy on vegetables with dip and cheese cubes.
In a sign, perhaps, of the tough economic times, guests who already paid anywhere from $75 for a ticket to thousands more for a package deal had to buy their own drinks served in small plastic cups. Beer went for $6, cocktails for $9 and champagne for $12.
People were standing in line outside Union Station to get into the Eastern States Ball an hour and a half after it started. Because of very limited seating at the Western ball, a number of attendees in long gowns and fancy dress plopped cross-legged on the floor.
“This is what happens in a down economy. No chairs, no highboys—it's the floor and plastic cups,” comented ball goer Brig Lawson, 38 of Las Vegas.
At the Obama Home States ball, the dance floor was dominated by two little girls who skipped and twirled in matching red dresses while the grown-ups stood still, crowded around the stage waiting for Obama to appear.
Singer Sheryl Crow was greeted by a cheering crowd later for her appropriate hit, “A Change Would Do You Good.” When hip-hop star Wyclef Jean asked the men at the Mid-Atlantic ball to pull off their tuxedo jackets and swing them in the air to show their support for Barack Obama, thousands did.
At the Youth Ball, Kid Rock belted out songs as well-dressed 20 somethings mingled about. One of them walked up to a bartender, gave him a high five and said, “Barack Obama is president!”
The Obamas, following Kid Rock and Kanye West, got the real rock-star reception and launched into something of an awkward dance, laughing as they swayed. When they were done, the president grabbed a mic and said, “That's what called old school.”
At the Midwestern Ball, he joked that it was time to “dance with the one who brung me, who does everything that I do except backwards and in heels.”
And though the mood was celebratory, the reality that the country remains at war hung over the festivities at the Commander in Chief ball and a separate Heroes Red White & Blue Ball.
“Please know that you are in our thoughts and prayers today, every day, forever” Obama told troops at the Commander in Chief ball. “Tonight, we celebrate. Tomorrow, the work begins...Together, I am confident we will write the next great chapter in America's story.”

To give our children the chance to live out their dreams in a world that's never been more competitive, we will equip tens of thousands of schools, community colleges, and public universities with 21st -century classrooms, labs and libraries. We'll provide new computers, new technology and new training for teachers so that students in Chicago and Boston can compete with children n Beijing for t he high-tech, high-wage jobs of the future.
To build an economy that can lead this future, we will begin to rebuild America. Yes, we'll put people to work repairing crumbling roads, bridges and schools by eliminating the backlog of well-planned, worthy and needed infrastructure projects, but we'll also do more to retrofit America for a global economy.
That means updating the way we get our electricity, by starting to build a new smart grid that will save us money, protect our power sources from blackout or attack, and deliver clean, alternative forms of energy to every corner of our nation.
It means expanding broadband lines across America so that a small business in a rural town can connect and compete with their counterparts anywhere in the world.
It means investing in the science, research and technology that will lead to new medical breakthroughs, new discoveries and entire new industries.
And, finally, this Recovery and Reinvestment Plan will provide immediate relief to states, workers and families who are bearing the brunt of this recession. To get people spending again, 95 percent of working families will receive a $1,000 tax cut, the first stage of a middle-class tax cut that I promised during the campaign and will include in our next budget.
To help Americans who have lost their jobs and can't find new ones, we'll continue the bipartisan extension of unemployment insurance and health care coverage to help them through this crisis.
Government at every level will have to tighten its belt, but we'll help struggling states avoid harmful budget cuts, as long as they take responsibility and use the money to maintain essential services, like police, fire, education and health care.
Now, I understand that some might be skeptical of this plan. Our government has already spent a good deal of money, but we haven't yet seen that translate into more jobs, or higher incomes, or renewed confidence in our economy.
And that's why the American Recovery and Reinvestment Plan just won't throw money at our problems. We'll invest in what works.
The true test of policies we'll pursue won't be whether they're Democratic or Republican ideas, whether they're conservative or liberal ideas, but whether they create jobs, grow our economy and put the American dream within the reach of the American people.
Instead of politicians doling out money behind a veil of secrecy, decisions about where we invest will be made transparently and informed by independent experts wherever possible.
Every American will be able to hold Washington accountable for these decisions by going online to see how and where their taxpayer dollars are spent.
As I announced yesterday, we will launch an unprecedented effort to eliminate unwise and unnecessary spending that has never been more unaffordable for our nation and our children's future than it is right now.
We have to make tough choices and smart investments today so that, as the economy recovers, the deficits start coming down. We cannot have a solid recovery if our people and our businesses don't have confidence that we're getting our fiscal house in order.
And that's why our goal is not to create a slew of new government programs, but a foundation for long-term economic growth.
That also means an economic recovery plan that is free from earmarks and pet projects. I understand that every member of Congress has ideas about how to spend money. Many of these projects are worthy; they benefit local communities.
But this emergency legislation must not be the vehicle for those aspirations. This must be a time when leaders in both parties put the urgent needs of our nation above our own narrow interests.
Now, this recovery plan alone will not solve all the problems that led us into this crisis. We must also work with the same sense of urgency to stabilize and repair the financial system we all depend on.
That means using our full arsenal of tools to get credit flowing again to families and businesses, while restoring confidence in our markets. It means launching a sweeping effort to address the foreclosure crisis so that we can keep responsible families in their homes.
It means prevent the catastrophic failure of financial institutions whose collapse could endanger the entire economy, but only with maximum protections for taxpayers and a clear understanding that government support for any company is an extraordinary action that must come with significant restrictions on the firms that receive support.
And it means reforming a weak and outdated regulatory system so that we can better withstand financial shocks and better protect consumers, investors and businesses from the reckless greed and risk-taking that must never endanger our prosperity again.
No longer can we allow Wall Street wrongdoers to slip through regulatory cracks. No longer can we allow special interests to put their thumbs on the economic scales. No longer can we allow the unscr upulous lending and borrowing that leads only to disruptive cycles of bubbles and bust.
It is time to set a new course for this economy, and that change must begin now.
We should have an open and honest discussion about this recovery plan in the days ahead, but I urge Congress to move as quickly as possible on behalf of the American people, for every day we wait or point fingers or drag our feet, more Americans will lose their jobs, more families will lose their savings, more dreams will be deferred and denied, and our nation will sink deeper into a crisis that at some point we may not be able to reverse.
That is not the country I know. It is not a future I accept as president of the United States. A world that depends on the strength of our economy is now watching and waiting for America to lead once more, and that is what we will do.
It will not come easy or happen overnight. And it is altogether likely that things may get worse before they get better.
But that is all the more reason that Congress to act without delay.
I know the scale of this plan is unprecendented, but so is the severity of our situation. We have already tried the wait-and-see approach to our problems, and it is the same approach that helped lead us to this day of reckoning.
And that is why the time has come to build a 21st-century economy in which hard work and responsibility are once again rewarded. That's why I'm asking Congress to work with me and my team day and night—on weekends, if necessary—to get the plan passed in the next few weeks.
That's why I'm calling on all Americans, Democrats and Republicans and independents to put—to put good ideas ahead of the old ideological battles, a sense of common purpose above the same narrow partisanship, and insist that the first question each of us asks isn't “What's good for me?” but “What's good for the country my children will inherit?”
More than any program or policy, it is this spirit that will enable us to confront these challenges with the same spirit that has led previous generations to face down war and depression and fear itself.
And if we do, if we are able to summon that spirit again, if we are able to look out for one another and listen to one another, and do our part for our nation and for prosperity, then I have no doubt that, years from now, we will look back on 2009 as one of those years that marked another new and hopeful beginning for the United States of America.
Thank you. God bless you. And may God bless the United States of America.
