progressing story-St. Clair by Cheryl V.

ST. CLAIR
Back flash:
Martin and Lisa, once, met jus by accident while he and Cherry were living with her parents in Asheville, North Carolina near the Smokey Mountains. And it jus happened that in him, getting in the habit of taking daily walks with Lisa, a very friendly Southern gal, a hillbilly. That he and Lisa had met jus by accident while he and this girl, Cherry, who he had happened to meet in St. Clair, Michigan. Were living together, still, with her parents down in Asheville, North Carolina. And it jus happened that being he was going on all those walks with Lisa. That this was responsible for causing the two to happen to fall in love with each other.
And Cherry and Martin jus happened to be having something like a brother and sister relationship with each other. Jus because when the two were living in St. Clair, he jus happened to meet Cherry, one day, when he bumped into her while she was sitting on the porch of the St. Clair house on the lake. And Martin happened to be a new neighbor of hers at that time. So, he, wanted to, badly, meet her at one time jus after he and his family moved into their new house in St. Clair across the street from Cherry and her parents.
Then, it happened because Martin and Cherry took a big liking to each other. They moved to St. Clair, together, along with her parents jus because they wanted to give living together, a big try. What they, really, wanted to do was to get the feel of living together jus because they didn’t want to end up, separated from each other for good. And her parents allowed him to live with them and Cherry because they both had this feeling inside of them. That Martin and Cherry would turn out to be jus like peas and carrots to each other in due time.
PRELUDE
Lisa jus happened to come back alive, again, one day, after having been buried in the cemetery for about a year. And she had ended up there jus because her and Martin had been thrown against some rocks during a tornado storm which she never survived. And when her body had been found by one of a search team, she had no pulse in her and was dead at that time.
So, one day while the guard was on duty, jus closing up the cemetery for the night. Dusk was coming in, and as he was getting ready to leave, he couldn’t believe his eyes, at first. Near where Lisa had been buried, the grave was rocking. And in no time at all, the grave dirt started flying everywhere like if the grave, itself, has exploded.
And then, upon walking over to the cemetery, ready to shovel the dirt back into the grave, he, actually, saw a wrapped up body of Lisa. And Lisa was, actually, getting up out of the coffin. And then, her body flew right out of the grave like it has wings, and it landed right near her grave.
As she tried to get up and walk, she, somehow, stumbled over a hill of dirt. And she, almost, landed back inside the coffin. However, upon trying to get back up on her feet, this time, the wrapping falling off of her. She couldn’t seem to get her breath which caused her to stumble over her feet. And she fell on the ground right near the coffin, as the guard was shocked, at first, still, thinking he was dreaming and sleepwalking in the cemetery.
However, upon leaning over Lisa, and trying to help her up, he found, she has a faint pulse. However, she has slipped into a coma due to lack of oxygen. So, then, he got his cell phone out of his pocket, and called 9ll.
So, then, the guard felt, he has to do something about this girl. So, he walked over to the office, and reported a girl, being found in the cemetery near her grave stone, and where her grave stone was at. The dirt was stirred up, and a coffin found open... So, the guard knew that this coffin had to be hers.
So, then, from his office, he called 911, and as soon as someone was on the other line, a woman said to him, “Yes, may I help you? Is something wrong?”
“Yes, I am a guard of the city cemetery. And, while I was on shift, tonight, jus before I was going to lock up the gates, I happened to notice something fishy going on which I’ve never experienced before in all my years as a guard, here. This body wrapped up in cloth, appeared to be a mummy at first. However, then, suddenly, jus now, all of the cloth fell off a young woman, who tried to walk. However, she has fallen down and has entered into a coma.”
“Are you sure, you aren’t dreaming?”
“Yes, I’m sure. I know something weird is happening when I see it. This isn’t the first time, something weird has happened right here in the cemetery. On Halloween night, another year, another mummy came out of a grave. However, that mummy ran away before I could make out who was inside that mummy. So, it must have been a real one. However, this is a young woman who must have been dead when buried. But she isn’t, anymore. I can seem to get a faint pulse out of her.”
“Okay, some paramedics will be there in no time at all. Stay there at the cemetery until they have arrived, and so you can tell them what has been going on, tonight, over there.”
So, in a few minutes, an ambulance along with a cop car and fire squad first aid vehicle was there. So, as they all parked in the driveway, and jumped out of the vehicles, they were in, they all had the surprise of their life. None of them have ever seen anything like this before. A grave, still, was open along with the woman, lying on the ground, apparently, having some life in her.
So, as the paramedics approached the woman, one of them started an IV of fluids, while the other one took her pulse and all other vital signs, all of which were faint. The cops came up to the girl, hoping that one of them could ask her, questions. However the girl, still, was in a coma. And the members of the fire squad took off along with the cops while the paramedics slid a stretcher underneath the girl.
And then, the paramedics took the girl to the nearest hospital in the city with the cops following them, hoping that when the ambulance arrived at the hospital. That they would be able to get something out of the girl; ask her, some questions to what she knew had been going on when she was sleepwalking out of the grave. And how she’s feeling at the present time.
So, as soon as the ambulance arrived over at the hospital, the paramedics, actually, ran into emergency ward with the girl. And as soon as she was set on a bed in the emergency ward, a doctor, immediately, started examining her. And by that time, for some odd reason, the doctor couldn’t figure out. The girl’s pulse was getting, steadily, stronger. And, also, within a matter of minutes, the girl was coming out of her coma.
So, then, the doctor examined her, thoroughly. And he found her to be responding to him. Also, her vital signs were normal by that time. And then, not knowing what has happened to the girl. And why she was in the cemetery, suddenly, coming back to life when she never was, completely, dead to begin with.
However, she was put on a ventilator for a little while, and soon as her breathing seemed normal, she was taken off of it. And then, she was put on oxygen and the IV fluids were continued. And now, that she could talk, the cops came over to the bed. And one of them asked her, some questions, hoping that they could get to the bottom of whatever happened in the cemetery. And what caused her to become near dead enough to make people, think she was dead. And that which had been responsible for her, being in that condition.
So, then, a cop asked her, “My dear, can you remember what placed you in the position of near death? Were you very ill at the time, or was something else responsible for your near death or death?”
“All I can remember is that a friend of mine, Martin, and I happened to get caught in a tornado storm in Asheville, North Carolina. And the two of us had gone into a ditch, hoping that the tornado storm wouldn’t carry us away. But the way, that storm had hit the area; both of us were pulled right out of the ditch. And then, I remember us two landing in the river, nearby. And being us both hit the rocks, then, I slipped into a state of shock. And from there, don’t remember anything else. Jus that Martin was lucky to have survived the storm. And he had been taken away to the hospital jus before my near death or shock.”
“Okay, who can we contact at this time? Can you remember any names and phone numbers of someone close to you like a member of the family, who one of us can contact?”
“I don’t know for sure if this is the right number. But I know someone, a good friend of mine, Martin, however, I don’t know if he, still, lives in North Carolina. If you don’t get a hold of him, ask whoever you talk to if they have his new phone number. Since, he, originally, lived in St. Clair, Michigan, you can try that city phone book under his not blood sister’ Cherry’s number. But try under the name, Davidson, which is her family last name. Her parents’ names are Debbie and I think her dad’s name is Michael. So, try under Michael, first, in St. Clair or Asheville, North Carolina.”
Then, after being through talking to her, the doctor said to the cop, “Please that is enough for her, for now. She has been through shocking times and needs rest, badly. I’ll let you know when she’s, already, to go back home, again. That’s if anyone can track down where she lived before being taken to the cemetery.”
So, then, Lisa said to the doctor, “I happen to remember where I was living at the time of the storm. I was living in Asheville, North Carolina, in a house near my parents. And their phone number is…Well, I’ll write it down on a piece of paper for you. So, when I’m ready to go back home, again, you can call this number, or have someone else call that number.”
Then, in the meanwhile, the cop has walked over to the information desk. And upon arriving, there, he said to a nurse, “I have to contact a patient’s family, and I need North Carolina along with St. Clair, Michigan phone books. Do you happen to have any phone book for either of these? In fact, for North Carolina, I need Asheville.”
“Yes, in fact, we do,” as the nurse fumbled with some books in a case nearby. Since, we are closer to Asheville than St. Clair; I would recommend you, calling there first.”
“Okay, nurse, please hand me the one for Asheville, first.”
“So, then, the cop looked through the phone book upon sitting down in a chair in the lobby. And then, he came up with a Davidson number in Asheville. So, he called that number being it hasn’t been changed, yet. And who answered the phone was someone; he didn’t, really, to talk to.
But whoever answered d the phone, one of the new residents of that house, said to the cop, in a very friendly manner, “What can I help you with? Would you like to speak to someone in the family? Though, I don’t recognize your voice because we, fairly, well know everyone at the police station.”
“Does anyone by that last name of Davidson, live at your house? Or did that family happen to move in the last year or so?”
“That name sounds very familiar to me. In fact, that is the family who I bought this house from. So, jus a minute, I’ll look up that family for you. It jus so happens that the family, I belong to, has their new number and address. If you can hold on for jus a minute. My family happens to be related to them. The Davidson’s are relatives of ours. And, well, I guess, I don’t have their number handy here. However, they are the only Davidson family in St. Clair; so, look in the phone book for St. Clair. And you’ll find their new number. I wish you luck in finding who you are looking for.”
“Thanks, it was nice talking to you.”
So, then, the cop looked through the phone book for St. Clair. And upon coming across the name Davidson, it was the only Davidson in St. Clair. So, then, the cop marked the number as well as the address on a piece of note pad. And then, he gave that family, a call, and hoped that someone was home.”
So, upon calling that number on the note pad, somebody by the name of Martin, answered the phone, and said to the cop,” Hello? Who is this? You don’t sound the least bit familiar to me.”
“Hello, this is Lieutenant Scott Pauley, “I know you aren’t going to be prepared for this one. Some guard in a North Carolina cemetery happened to see a girl by the name of Lisa, come out of a grave like she was sleepwalking. Then, as he caught up to her, she was lying on the ground after having had this wrapping around her. And she was found in a coma.”
“You’re not kidding, are you, sir? I know that girl, Lisa, she’s a good friend of mine, and she was known to be dead. Are you telling me, that she’s alright, now, after having been through that tornado storm with me? I’ve been left in a wheelchair from the storm, and it took me a long time to get full use of my legs, again.”
“Yes, she’s alright now, in fact, she’s acting as though she never has been in shock from having been through that tornado storm in Asheville, North Carolina, about a year ago. Would you like to talk to her, my boy? I’m sure, she’s anxious to talk to you, too.”
“No, not really, the two of us have broken up, and now, I’ve been falling in love with this gal, Cherry. And I can’t go back to Lisa because I’ve seemed to have lost all love for her. But don’t tell her this, though. I don’t want to get her upset. But I’ll agree to be her friend, again, even though, it’s been awhile. And even if we got back together, she lives too far away for me to be able to see her, often enough. I moved to St. Clair with my family and Cherry because I thought that Lisa was dead. What happened here; did she come back to life, again?”
“That’s the way it seems to appear to be; or else, she was, barely, alive at the time of the burial. However, I don’t understand how she could have lived all this time without fluids and food. So, her body temperature must have been low enough to preserve her. So, that she would survive all that time under ground without oxygen.”
“Is there some way that I can get a hold of her parents? I need to talk to them. She’s going to, probably, be released in a day or so. And someone has to come here to the hospital to pick her up. Do you, by chance, have her parents’ phone number? No, I don’t but I’m sure, Lisa must remember it because she used to live with them before she moved out on her own.”
“Okay, then, I’ll talk to her again, and try to get her parents’ number from her. Hey, wait a minute; I got it, right here. So, is there anyone else who may want to talk to Lisa at the home where you live, now?”
“No, not really, because, partly, none of us, really, have contact with her, or have in a long time. It’s like she’s no longer a part of our lives, I’m sorry to say. So, please call her parents, and don’t be surprised if they don’t believe she’s alive at first.”
“Okay, it was nice talking to you, Martin. If she wants to talk to you, I’ll get a hold of you, again. But since, you, really, don’t want anything to do with her, anymore, I’ll jus let it slide that I ever talked to you if she asks me.”
So, after the cop was through talking-to Martin, he, then, got a hold of Lisa’s parents. And after getting her mother on the phone, he said to her in a curious voice, not knowing how to tell her what’s happened to Lisa.
“Hello, this is Lieutenant Scott Pauley of the North Carolina part of Asheville. Is this Lisa’s mother?”
“Yes, it is, what can I do for you, sir?”
“Well, I have something to tell you and your husband. Since, you two are Lisa’s parents; it’s my obligation as an officer to tell you this. Your daughter was found by a guard in the cemetery having jumped out of her grave. And she was found on the ground in a coma. But she has come out of it, and she, now, is in a very stable condition. And she, probably, will be coming home, tomorrow morning.”
“I, really, can’t believe what you have jus told me. It’s hard to believe that my daughter, Lisa, is alive. She must never have died in the first place. And how she managed to survive in her grave is beyond anything I can comprehend. So, when should I call back so I know what’s going on?”
“Call back later on, this evening. Right now, she’s resting, so she’s in no condition to talk to you at the present or to your husband. She’s in a state of shock at this time, and won’t be able to comprehend anything if you try to talk to her, now. She’s on Ativan and by tomorrow morning or so, she should be able to calm down enough to have a conversation with either one of you.”
“Okay, sir, thank you for calling us about Lisa. Although, it’s hard to take that she’s alive, we are very happy for Lisa. That she managed, somehow, to survive that one storm in which storm, Martin ended up in a wheelchair for some time.”
Upon hanging up the phone, the officer then, said to the cop, standing near him, “I’ve gotten hold of Lisa’s parents, and I’ll allow her to talk to them, later on, as soon as the doctor notices, she’s out of her state of shock.”
‘However, that could take longer for her to recover from it. Let’s leave, anyway, and go back to the police station. And as soon as we report her case, then, we can decide from there what to do next.”
So, then both officers headed out the front doors, and upon walking over to the cop car, they both headed for the police station.
In the meanwhile, Lisa is still resting and trying to recover from being in shock.
As soon as the cops arrived at the police station, then, the two approached the Captain about this mysterious case, they have on their hands. One of the cops said to the Captain, “This is one case which we never have encountered before in all the days, we have been cops. It so happened that a girl was found in a cemetery in a coma by a guard, and as soon as the girl reached the hospital, within a matter of hours, she recovered completely from being in a coma. But now, she’s in a state of shock being her body can’t seem to handle being alive, again, and from having been in near death from a tornado storm which hit Asheville about a year ago.”
Then, a couple of hours later, mysteriously, a doctor walked into Lisa’s room over at the hospital. And he couldn’t figure out why she wasn’t in bed. So, then, he walked back to the nurses’ station, and told the nurses about the situation. However, first he asked the nurse who’s been taking care of Lisa, “Hey nurse, when is the last time, you checked up on Lisa, to give her, her medication and whatever else she needed? I’ve jus come from her private room, and she wasn’t in her bed, and I couldn’t spot her in the hall, either.”
“Is that right, doctor; well, about a half hour ago, I came into her room to give her, her medication and she seemed to be kind of responsive at the time. I assumed she was in shock, again. So, I gave her, a doze of Ativan to see if it would bring her out of it.”
“Well, if she’s in a state of shock, again, I can’t figure out where she could have gone. I’m wondering if she was sleepwalking, lately. And then, she has been sleepwalking out of the hospital. I’m going to call her parents up, and see if they happened to come to pick her up, assuming she was well enough to go back home.”
“First of all, recheck in her bedroom, and then, if she, still, isn’t there, check in the halls, again.”
“I’ve got another patient to take care of. Why don’t you check up on her nurse? And then, when you’ve gotten an idea of where she could have gone if she isn’t back in her room. I’ll, then, call her parents up, and let them know, she isn’t in her room.”
“C’mon now, doctor, what more do you want? Go ahead and call her parents up, here, at the nurses’ station? And then, if her parents don’t know her whereabouts, I’ll, then, well I won’t know what to do after that. You go ahead and decide what to do. Then, if you, still, can’t seem to track her down, I’ll get the cops on her case for a missing persons’ case.”
So, then, the doctor grabbed a hold of the phone after taking the number of Lisa’s parents’ house from the nurse. And jus after he dialed the number, he said to whoever answered the phone, “Who is this; is this Lisa’s mom?”
“Yes, sir, it is; what can I do for you?”
“Well, this is her doctor; I jus was inside her room to check up on Lisa. And I couldn’t find her in bed or even in the halls, recently. Did either you or your husband come to the hospital to pick her up without me, knowing about it? Well, have you heard from her, at all?”
Jus as she was ready to tell him what she thought was going on, she, suddenly, happened to look outside her front window. And who did she happen to spot walking down the street was Lisa.
“Wait a minute, here, doctor, I don’t know how she got, here. However, I jus happened to see her, walking down the street with the same clothes on which she had on when she was taken to the hospital jus before they put a gown on her. I don’t know what to do now. I’ll call you back if I find out anything about her. In fact, my husband is trying to tell me, something.”
So, then, the doctor hung up the phone, and he jus stayed at the nurses’ station, hoping that he would hear something, himself. In the meanwhile, in happening to come from outside, one of Lisa’s parents, her dad has something to tell the doctor.
So, then, the phone rang over at the nurses’ station, and the doctor stayed, there, to see if he could find out anything about Lisa from the nurse who answered the phone.
So, the nurse, upon picking up the phone, there, at the nurses’ station, heard Lisa’s dad say to her, “Well, what do you know; I jus happened to be walking down the street right after my wife hung up the phone. And upon walking down to Cherry’s parents’ cabin, I saw Martin, coming out of the cabin. And as he neared the first floor, Lisa happened to walk up to the place. And upon seeing Martin, I jus started walking back towards our cabin.”
“Well, what did you see happen next, if anything?”
“Jus now, I happened to look back where the cabin is. And Martin and Lisa jus came out of the cabin, and are walking together like she’s alright. However, jus a minute, I’ll call you back when I find out more what’s going on with her.”
So, jus as he hung up the phone, then, it started ringing, and who happened to be on the phone was Martin, of all people. “Hello, this is Martin; who’s this on the other end. Is it you, Lisa’s father?”
“Yes, it is; is something wrong, now, with Lisa? Yes, please come over right away. I can’t understand, for one thing, how, exactly, Lisa got out of the hospital. I wonder if she hitchhiked, and jus happened to make it, here, to the cabin. I don’t know what to do with her at this time. For one thing, she’s wearing the same clothes which she wore when she was taken to the hospital after she came alive, again. I don’t know what’s up with her. She jus fell on the grass near the street. And I can’t seem to get but a faint pulse from her.”
“What do you want me to do, now, Martin? Take her to the hospital, again? Well, I’m on my way, right now. And in the meantime, go inside the cabin, and call 911, immediately. She wasn’t well enough to go home, anyways. And she, apparently, could be in a coma, again. After calling 911, then, come out of the cabin, and stay with her until the ambulance arrives. I’ll be right, there. I’ll get hold of her mom, and I’m sure, she’ll want to come over there with me. So, jus hold tight until the paramedics arrive.”
Then, upon calling her doctor over at the hospital, Lisa’s father said to him, “Hello, this is her father. I jus spoke to Martin, and Lisa is, now, at the cabin where he is living. And he has no idea how she got, there. However, he thinks that she might have hitchhiked over there. However, he called an ambulance over there, and jus make sure a bed is ready for her in emergency because she will be back there, soon.”
So, then, the ambulance arrived over at the cabin where Martin and Cherry are living. And when the paramedics arrived, only Martin was out there because Cherry didn’t want to believe Martin. That Lisa was still alive, and, probably, had hitchhiked over to their cabin.
So, as soon as the ambulance pulled up into the driveway, the paramedics hopped out of it. And they, actually, ran over to where Lisa’s, still, lying on the grass, and unresponsive. So, one of the paramedics took her vital signs, and got a faint pulse out of her. So, the other one ran into the ambulance to get an IV out of it while the other paramedic was testing her responses.
Upon arriving back over to where Lisa’s at, the paramedic, quickly, hooked her up to the IV. And then, after the paramedic did so, Martin stayed with her while the two paramedics wheeled a stretcher out of the ambulance. And upon the two lifting her onto the stretcher, Martin, then, followed the paramedics back to the ambulance. And then, he hopped into the ambulance upon Lisa being rolled into the ambulance, and he stayed at her side. Being Cherry’s parents weren’t home at the time, jus Martin went with Lisa back to the hospital.
Minutes later, upon the ambulance arriving at the emergency entrance of the hospital, then, Martin followed the paramedics’ right into the emergency ward. And he, still, stayed with Lisa while the paramedics were telling the doctor, her vital signs. And that she has a faint pulse, still, at this time, and seems to be unresponsive to touch.
So, then, while Lisa was, still, lying on the bed in the emergency ward, Martin called her parents. And he told her father and mother, “Lisa is back in the hospital in the emergency ward, and she’s back to the state where she seems to be in a state of shock. However, she isn’t talking to me. However, she doesn’t seem to be in any coma at this time. So, please come down here to the hospital as soon as you both can. I’m sure she’s concerned about you two coming to see her even while she’s in the emergency ward.”
So, since, her two parents were on a speaker phone, they both could hear what Martin was saying to them. So, then, they both said at once, “We’ll both be there right away; be sure to know that both of her parents are concerned for her well-being at this time.”
Then, her mother said to Martin, “However, neither of us will do anything to punish her for leaving the hospital because we both have the feeling. That she might have not been aware of what she was doing at the time, she arrived over at the cabin where you are living, still, with Cherry. So, stay with her, and be sure to report to a doctor or nurse if she seems to get any better or worse while being in the emergency ward.”
So, then, while Martin was staying with Lisa, she jus happened to, suddenly, be aware. That he was standing at her side, trying to get her to respond to him. That let her know, that he, still, was somewhat concerned for her and still, cared for her, although, it has been some time, since, he, actually, has felt like this for her.
So, she said to him, “Is that, really, you, Martin, standing by my side, or am I daydreaming?”
“No, Lisa, you are not daydreaming. I don’t know how you escaped the hospital, however I’m not against you for doing that because it’s possible that you could have been sleepwalking while trying to get to the cabin where I’m, still, living at this time. Can you hear me, Lisa; if you can hear me, say something to me.”
“Yes, I can hear you, Martin; however, I can’t seem to understand all what you have been telling me jus now. I’m feeling, as though, I’m reliving the times of that horrible storm which, nearly, killed me. And I, also, am seemingly, reliving all that time, I spent in dark in that coffin while being, partly, alive, all that time.”
“I’m sure you must be scared at this time. However, the main thing is that you, still, are alive. And at first, I didn’t seem to believe that you were alive. However, now, that I, really, believe you are alive, I’m feeling, as though, my love for you has come back. And in feeling like this is making me, feel as though, I’m falling into a state of shock, myself. So, whatever you do, my dear, jus keep hanging on until you are well enough to go back home, again. Jus doing that for me will take me out of this state of shock. So, please say something to me, again, my dear. It’ll make me feel better all over.”
“What I want to say to you at this time even though I’m on a ventilator is that I, still, love you with all my heart. And whenever the time comes, that I am well, again, I want to get married to you?”
“Now, I can feel myself, pulling out of that shock. You jus made me feel better, already, and have given me, my confidence back, my dear. Now, that is enough talking, here’s the doctor. And after he has examined you, again, be sure to try to get all the rest you can. So, you get better and are back to your old self, again.”
So, then, Martin jus pulled up a chair, and stayed quiet while the doctor and nurse were taking care of her. So, the doctor said to her, “You see to be doing better, so now, you can go off the ventilator. However, you are going to have to stay on oxygen for now because being you’ve been in a state of shock that has impaired your breathing. And please cooperate with me and the nurse and do what you are told to do, like getting some rest.”
